YAY! car got broken into!

so last night my car was broken into, i have an alarm, with knock sensor and all that fun stuff. here is my problem, they forced window down on my car, i assume they didn't open door or alarm would have gone off, so they crawled through the window... after all this they tore everything apart but only my iPod and a shitty watch was stolen, deck, wheel lock key and everything else intact, maybe hes just rookie and dosnt wanna steal to much to get attention? maybe come back for more another day? i have a neighbor that's street parked and his car get broken into a lot but this is the first for me.

any suggestions? or opinions on the situation:okay:

What car was this? Any idea how they forced the window down?

inv4zn 09-19-2012 08:53 AM

If it's the EF then I would say that's a pretty clever way to bypass the alarm...

Maybe you can get a custom switch put in so when the window makes contact with a switch while the car is armed the alarm goes off?

You could give soundsgood a call and ask them for their opinions.

Good thing they didn't steal much though. Good luck.

ef hatch, they got the window trim down and i guess they got something to move windows down "roll up windows"

ive emptied my car of everything sense, i do have quite a bit of security stuff preventing car theft, but ionno what else to do from here, who ever did this could have done alot better, i hate to admit it, but i have a spare key in my car they found it "well hidden" but left the key on my seat

snails 09-19-2012 08:55 AM

thanks for the tip, and ive been talking to a friend that does car audio/ security about something for the window going down, but apparently this has been happening to a friend down the street and they never steal anything that takes effort, still something i dont wanna deal with

probably just saw your ipod or something and decided to yank it if it was easy to do so. count your blessings that this guy wasn't after your car in the first place

good luck man

i hope so, but he also opened everything else up and left everything on the floor

SumAznGuy 09-19-2012 09:00 AM

Gotcha.

Here's my guess. Pull the window back, usual way to break into an EF/EG/EK Civic.
Used some sort of stick to roll down the manual windows.
Reach into the car and steal what they can without setting off the shock sensor.

theres not much you can do if your in surrey man, just leave nothing in your car, and pray.

They will tow your car if they want it, alarm doesnt do anything

my car is about 2" off the ground, it will be sending sparks for miles if it was a tow situation, plus its a super narrow road and the civic hardly has enough room to get into my diveway i guess its time for something cleaver to make windows not roll down and lock them at night, or turn up my knock sensor super high???

snails 09-19-2012 09:09 AM

and yes, i learned pretty quick this morning nothing stays in my car anymore

Easiest way, either convert them to power windows or remove the handles so the theives cannot roll down the windows.

That or hook up a proximity sensor to your alarm.

can someone explain how you can "roll down a window" from the outside?

pry something behind the window, u can rock it a bit to get it to move enough to roll it down and fit something to push on the lever, pretty simple, ill be in the shop making something today and doing some alarm stuff aswell

Shitty break...Friend of mine got his Civic broken into yesterday as well...Glass broken stolen ear bud headphones lol (nasty bums.)

This happened around the Scott Road area/Future Shop parking lot.

Sucks though that it got broken into.. Only thing to do would be upgrade the alarm.. If it's still the same one, go to N-Motion and get them to put a 2-way in there. Hopefully if they try it again, the 2-way will be more sensative and pick up the vibrations of forcing the window down.

Just be happy it's not gone.. that hidden secret saved the car from being driven away. They probably tried to start it and realized it wouldn't work. :lawl: ;)

BTW: www.foscamcanada.com - Has some good priced security cameras. FYI.

I know that feel, bro.

Last year I was broken into despite having nothing to steal. They ripped my faceplate-less deck out and broke my EG optional audio console which ICBC didn't replace (they just gave me the stock one)

Surrey is a joke.

gdoh 09-19-2012 09:51 AM

leave nothing in your car and open everything up to show there is nothing

OP's car has manual windows. The thief was able to pry the window open with a screwdriver and reach into the car with some sort of stick to roll down the windows.
