| Portable Electric Heaters Suggestions?
Any suggestions or recommendations for a good portable electric heater for home use? It's not that cold yet, but I want to plan ahead and get one when it starts getting colder so I can have it ready to use. My friend has a Bionaire minitower one with the digital LCD that he paid around $60 for; however, reviews online says it sucks.
Any safety hazards I should be aware of before buying something like this as I have never bought one before. Trying to save on the gas bill this year and also when I turn on the heat, it heats up the entire basement which I don't need.

I'd just install a baseboard heater and pay an electrician to install it. Maybe Matlock on this forum.
Those portables are a bit sketch if you fall asleep, unless you turn on a timer.
Hmm..Looks like you can buy portable baseboard heaters as well.

I have a Magnum DeLonghi, works like a charm....just keep it low heat when youre sleeping, you will feel that thing when you wake up because it slowly warms up the entire room  | |

I have a similar one that was bought from Home Depot (different brand though). I find radiators are better for heating the entire room. Versus fans that heat you instantly, but once the thing turns off its cold again.
The only downside is it might take awhile (like 30 mins) to heat the room, but that all depends on how big the room is. Get one with a timer and/or temp control and you're all set.

i hope it's not the bionare one from costco cuz i just picked it up LOL
power consumption is a concern if you're in an older house. if it's say an old 1500W one like my parents have, that'll take up 1 15 amp circuit in your house, so if you have say you're TV and PC plugged in to a power bar on the same receptacle, don't be surprised if the breaker trips.
i've been looking for one that can do 2 settings like 750watt and 1200watt or something like that. not just from a power consumption standpoint but also if it's heating a room set it on high, if it's under your desk warming your legs, you don't want it to burn the hair off your legs on a higher setting.

I use the oil filled DeLonghi heater in my car hauler turned into workshop and it is very nice.
Tempuratures dipped below zero often last winter and this puppy worked really well. I bought it from Costco when it was on sale. I got it because it was safer than other types of heaters.

just buy a cheap ass 20 dollar heater fan at canadian tire or Walmart....I had one Last 3 years with heavy use & other cheap ones that lasted about the same........just watch out for the certain junky brands...i had one where the fan starts making a shit load of noise & burns out before the heating element. i have the bionaire from costco 
i don't have any issues with it... i just dress up more dpending on the temp...
there is a cheaper version in price pro for 30 bux but its the non lcd version...

i haven't opened mine yet, but can you confirm for me if there's a 750 watt permanent setting? it said it oscillates from 750w to 1250w so i'm assuming it did.

convection heaters are more energy efficient and silent (the type of heater windstar has)
most ceramic heaters are pretty loud from my experience but works nonetheless

I have a heat dish.. and I'm not too fond of it.
It works for keeping a small area warm, if you don't plan on being there for too long.
I found that after an hour or so, it makes the air very.. dry? and even at low, the heat gets very uncomfortable. Kind of hard to explain.
I prefer the radiator ones.

I have this for my room because I live in my garage .. Works wonders. I highly recommend this model if you can find it.. I got it a few years back =/ duno if they still sell'em

I saw this cool blade fan heater at Costco today.
Don't know the price, but it felt good.
