Microsoft just called me...

And told me that my computer has been hacked and he is here to save the day! LOL.

He was telling me to run assoc and eventvwr in command prompt, but I refused to. I just acted dumb and let him keep talking while I googled the junk he was saying and it was a scam.

That was new. Luckily my mom didn't pick up the phone or she spoon feed this guy everything he wanted to know!

Indian: *explains there's some sort of virus for windows. Then he says through some network they know I'm one of the households using windows*
Me: *freaks* "omg which windows are infected?"
Indian: "all of them!"
Me: "omgomgomg is it my vista or 7 desktop that's infected?"
Indian: "both of them! Then you need to buy two separate programs to get rid of virus"
Me: "I keed I use Mac"

My mom got one of these calls.. it was an indian lady instead, luckily I was home and still sleeping, so my mom woke me up and told me that some person over the phone is telling her that the computer has a virus.

I went on the phone with my sleepy voice and asked her what she wanted.

Indian lady: Your computer has a virus.
Me: Oh really ?
Indian lady: yes really.

and this went on for 30 seconds and i said, please stop with the scam and after a while she said " okay " and hung up. LOL

They called my mom once too... she doesn't have a computer. Took her 15 minutes to convince them of that fact (or at least, 15 minutes until they figured she wasn't worth the trouble).

I got this call at 5am in the morning, told me my printer was infected and would cease to function unless I pay them at the spot for 49.99 for 3 months for their specially government tuned malware removal tool.

I just hung up and went back to sleep.

just add another animal's name to the current osx name and tell the unassuming mac user it's the newest OS and it's a prerelease. They'll be so excited to have something that's apple and new before everyone else that they'll literally throw money at you.
