credit scores/identity theft etc..

hey guys, I was using TransUnion to sign up for credit check and the site asked me a few questions to identify who I am. Basically I see two credit cards I've never signed up for in my life and it says "revolving account" on both of these cards. The account names say, Canadian tire bankcard and HSBC retail services. How can I find out about this situation? I have no idea where to start and beginning to stress like fuck!

Call transunion and connect to the csr that discusses your accounts that you don't recognize. Get as much info as possible about them. Ask what revolving means and if the accounts are considered active. If active call the company in question to remove, not cancel since you didn't sign up for shit. Canadian tire might just cancel cuz they are stupid, had the same problem with them before but not a big deal for me I just wanted it closed. Wait times for transunion sucks ass through a straw. Good luck

Oh ya if you are concerned about possible identity theft you can put a warning on your account with transunion where if you are shown as signing up for something the bank/card company, etc will call your home to verify before proceeding. PITA but extra step at protection if you truly believe you are at risk

thanks guys i will call first thing Monday. Anyone know what a good credit score would be? Do tickets and collections ever have the amount of power they say they have to wreck our scores?

Before you jump the gun... you could be worrying over nothing.

I've seen a question like this during an identity check.

It goes:

"WHICH WAS THE LAST CREDIT CARD YOU SIGNED UP FOR?"

A. PRESIDENTS CHOICE FINANCIAL
B. MBNA SMART CASH
C. CANADIAN TIRE MASTERCARD
D. COSTCO AMERICAN EXPRESS
E. HSBC REVOLVING ACCOUNT

Was your question like this? If so, not all the choices listed are accounts that you actually have.

^ that.

Wait until you actually get a credit report before you do anything. There is a form you can fill out to investigate anything that is out of the ordinary that comes with the report.

i recall 730+ is considered a 'very good' score.
probably... 680-730 ish is 'good'

depends on where you get your tickets, and if those collections are legit or not. /diamondparking

good point. i misread OP's original post thinking that he already received the report and 2 cards showed up on his account that he didn't sign up for.

I had a question like that once before, but in this instance it was asking for a rough estimate of my age. The only issue is that none of the options it gave were correct...

sorry I was not specific in my post. I basically filled out the identity information in order to receive the credit check which I have not done because the questionaire keeps asking me what the Canadian Tire account number is. I filled out two account information about my credit card and finance for vehicle from the past correctly. Tickets and collections from diamond parking/NCO collectors, will they effect my score? thanks
