Laptop Recommendations

Getting little brother a laptop, budget is $1000-$1500

I want him to start getting used to keyboard and mouse vs touch screens. There is no room for a full desktop computer.

What is a decent laptop for games, and has a nice display.

a nice benchmark would be bf3 on medium settings

Depending on the size and specs you want, your budget would fit a very large catalogue of computers.

Based on previous experience, I would recommend you check out the ASUS G series laptops :

Laptops / Notebooks - Business & Gaming Laptops at Memory Express

Running the latest mobile intel processors and graphics cards, they will handle BF3 in high without much problem, and still fit within your budget (before tax).

Comparable models from MSI also offer much of the same bang for buck. The MSI backlit keyboards are also quite nice.

ASUS G55VW
Lenovo Y580
Sager NP6350

All of them are within your budget and feature a GTX660M, which should be plenty for most games

Check out RFD. There's always deals on Lenovo laptops, and if you do it through the RFD checkout, you get a percentage of cashback.

$1,000 will easily get you a mid-high end laptop capable of anything.
