They likely owned both chunks and somehow subdivided it. |

This doesn't seem uncommon in Toronto though. The fee includes electricity, gas, cable TV. Gas and electricity are not metered per unit. Still, I can't help but wonder how wasteful people in the building are with energy knowing it's non-metered flat rate heating/AC/electricity. I know that one of my elderly neighbours keeps their thermostat pinned at 25 throughout winter. I'm pretty energy conscious (I def. remember BC Hydro/Power Smart ads on YTV and them coming to my elementary school) but I can't help the realization that I'm subsidizing the usage of heavier units. I should mine BTC. |
If you ever want inspiration for classical two tone Color schemes like that one go spend a couple hours walking around the old part of new west, like between 6th and mcbride. There are some amazing examples there If I ever do my siding I’ll be going to like the green/off white or somthing along those lines of those classic tones |
That burnaby house isn't that bad. At least the front of the house is on the street. There's a couple of houses in Coquitlam that are like this: https://www.rew.ca/insights/312962/3...t-coquitlam-bc The entire house is behind another house. Your only connection to your street is your driveway. |
^Does that mean you own that entire driveway and it's private? so you could park cars on it if you wanted? |
Yep, a typical pan-handle lot with a long private driveway. |

Fucking coons are getting into the attic space of my house through one of the roof soffits. Of course I'm away from home, I had a family member try to deal with closing it off. Hopefully when I get home I can stop them from getting in there. The type of shit strata owners dont need to worry about that can quickly become a huge pain for homeowners. My roof is also a ridiculous 7-12 pitch (maybe even more). I'm not looking forward to trying to climb up there and deal with this. |
How are the neighbourhoods in Coquitlam around Austin Heights or Coquitlam Town Centre or even Port Moody? Been looking at some listings lately but not too familiar with living in those areas. |
Port Moody is the greatest area in the GVRD |

we actually didn't hear them until they started phase 2. Raccoons will always want a secondary exit apparently when they take up residence. Even if they go in through an opening, they'll want to make another one. It was a mess. |
How dafuq do racoons climb up so high, esp if it is through a (roof) sofits? The darn opening would be upside-down, and those suckers aren't exactly slim. |
They're agile fuckers. When I was still living with my parents in our Richmond TH, one night I heard scratching noises outside my window. I open the blinds to see a massive raccoon trying to crawl through my open awning window. lol |

Great access to nature, very easy grocery shopping (t&t, Walmart, save on, kins, IGA, thriftys within 5 min drive.) Wider range of cuisine and food options than Richmond, although missing a few staples (missing really good Taiwanese beef noodles and beef brisket wonton noodles). Westcoast express is super comfortable and convenient. Generally quiet neighborhood, well lit, clean. |
I'm just on the westmost border (with Coquitlam) in Poco, and I like this neighbourhood too. I'm just minutes from Coq center and Westcoast/skytrain station, walking distance to Coquitlam river for the summer and lots of trees around too. |
Both neighbourhoods will see constant change in the next decade or two. Austin Height is just starting to redevelopment and you should see a lot more multi-family development options. Compared to City Centre, Austin Height lags behind on new retail or commercial space and rapid transit, but you're within a 10-15 minute drive to Burquitlam or City Centre. |
i've been two blocks from the SE corner of lafarge lake for the past 13 years. close proximity to pretty much everything you need as others have posted. the river is 2 blocks away with a good biking trail network. they're starting to develop some of the old mutifamily low rise apartments and you see many more development application signs up around now. traffic can already be a shit show, only going to make it way worse. Pipeline isn't meant for that much traffic |
Brutal flooding at a building on the corner of Gilmore and Dawson. Stuff of nightmares for those of us living in apartments. https://www.reddit.com/r/vancouver/c...ght_fun_times/ |
