Here is Tofu's 1/18 787B by AutoART. This is old AutoART. I recently did a photo shoot for his model.

I did not place the antenna on the model. I kept it in it's original bag.

one of the most influential racers to come out of Japan...you did it justice

too bad a group C would look so out of place in my mini collection

Spoiler!

Damn that's an old photo.. RIP to 7-11. I love Magic Box Hobbies though, so lucky to have a local store carry Japanese paints and tools at very fair affordable prices. They were the first store that got me into the scale plastic car hobby. I admit lately I've been buying most of my stuff online from Japan, but I still try to support these local guys when I can.

I wish the hobby was bigger in the GVRD, I literally know no one else who builds 1/24 models :alone:

I'm not very active on RS but I'm starting to get into the diecast scene, and back into the scale plastic cars scene :) I just recently started painting 1/64 and Hot wheels as well..

These builds always take forever due to time, but here's an interesting one. A 1/24 replica of my 04 WRX. The real car has gone through many changes though, and my model is lagging behind :P Imgur Album and Build Log below

Takes a lot of time and may not look as good as Auto Art, but there's something about being able to build the car the way you like!

do you do facebook? look up "westcoast wheelheads" for lots of local stuff, mostly 1/64 hotwheels, etc.

give pacman a shout. he's the all knowing one.

Dude that’s some big league skills I read the whole build process... I can only wish to have even half that talent with models... so many ideas in my head and so little skills / equipment / limited space concerns haha

SpeedStars 01-26-2019 12:20 AM

Only just a 1:64 scale hot wheels, but I've never been able to find these locally due to scalpers. BUT AMAZON finally has them in stock!! I placed an order in October and finally got an update. This is for the advan style car+trailer.

It's just very hard to find that one locally since most stores would bring in one case, and there's only 1 Skyline wagon in the box of 4. Last time I saw one in a retail store was September

Any other Hotwheels collectors on here? The premium line with metal chassis/bases are spectacular for the price point

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/kG...=w1266-h938-no

tofu1413 01-26-2019 08:19 AM

I try to casually collect these premium hotwheels, but theyre so hard to get a hold of....... scalpers always beat most of us to the punch

Lancouver 01-26-2019 03:18 PM

I recently started collecting them too. At this point I'm really happy if I find a mainline car I want, as I paint them and swap wheels anyways. The premium stuff is nice though, I really like the heft of the metal bases.

I'm just really stoked that older JDM cars are getting so much love here in the form of consumer toys :)

1/18 Mercedes Benz AMG-GTR by Almost Real

Hi everyone!

I recently received the long awaited MB AMG-GTR from Almost Real. I finally had sometime during this past weekend to take some pics.

There has been alot of comparison between AR's MB and AA's (autoart) MB-AMG GTR. So here is the info so far...Comments are welcomed.

Almost Real:
Pro's
  • Diecast metal construction
  • Carbon roof is well made.
  • Actual working suspension - not Maisto type suspension. Actual car suspension.
  • Slightly better interior compared to AA's pre-release pics.
  • The engine block is separate piece (the underside of the car is not a one piece mold)
Con's
  • Since this is a diecast metal body, there are the usual panel gap issues.
  • the front hood is diecast metal, so it is heavy and won't stay in the open position too long (on my model).
  • The hood vents are not photo etched. So it is not see through.
  • The brake calipers are missing some decal details. it suppose to have the word "carbon" on it.

Overall this is a great model. Are there flaws? Yes. But, then again which model doesn't have any flaws? A lot of collectors are saying Almost Real is the real deal, and they are giving AA a run for its money. If you are turned off with AA's use of plastic composite, then I suggest give Almost Real a look. But which ever one you choose, you will end up with good quality model. ATM AutoArt Canada has not announced any Canadian release dates or pricing for their MB AMG GTR.

Hope you enjoy the pics.

1/18 Subaru WRX STI S208 NBR package by Kyosho Samurai Series

Hi everyone,

I just received this 1/18 Subaru WRX STI S208 NBR package from Kyosho Japan. This model is from their Samurai Series.

Overall impression, the stance and ride height looks pretty accurate. The proportions compared to the real car looks correct and the model is well made. The paint job is spot on compared to photos of the real car. But, unfortunately this is a sealed resin model. That means nothing opens, and the front wheels don't steer. Also, another item that I wished Kyosho did was use more photo etched parts on this model, especially the front grill. And lastly, this is personal preference - why do most model car manufacturers tint the back window so dark?

SunStar will be releasing a diecast version of the S208 in yellow later on this year. But, IMO it looks more toy like. I'd prefer the resin version instead.

1/18 Nissa Silvia S15 Spec-R by Ottomobile

Hi Everyone!

Not much to say about this model, but it looks awesome! I always thought the S15 looks better than the S14, and I wished Nissan imported to North America.

BTW, Ottomobile is the only model company that produces a S15 in 1/18 scale. And these are sold out on their site. I think they did this car justice.

you can message Pacman808 direct.

he has a good chance of getting a hold of certain otto cars before their release if you order from him early enough!
