Vancouver police dealing with distraught man with gun at Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel
 
-just heard about this police incident involving a man with a gun inside the Fairmont Pacific Rim hotel.

-police and their emergency response team have the hotel locked down.


An area around the Fairmont Pacific Rim is blocked off to traffic and pedestrians this morning.

-hope the cops can get this guy out of the Fairmont peacefully. Poor hotel guests.

Got me worried cause I know a buddy who works at Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. Got the names confused up. Hopefully cops got this under control and no one innocent gets hurt.

Reports are saying he's on the third floor, there are no guest rooms on the 3rd, its all conference rooms and open public areas up there.

News1130 latest update mentions that the gunman at the Fairmont Pacific Rim hotel is a 28 year old guy from Surrey. He is known to police as a person with a history of mental illness. :(

-police arrested the 28 year gunman. They are taking him to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries. No casualties.

We own a condo at the Fairmont and the couple that lives in our condo is so freaked out that the guy called me today and said he might want to move out of the building end of the month, lol like wtf.

Lol, I know eh. I spoke with the manager at the building and he said the cops had basically boxed the guy in right away and no one was in real danger.

Lol, actually both are doctors if you can believe that. I guess some people retract to incidents like this differently and get super freaked out.

Both probably had a "sheltered" lifestyles/upbringing (i.e. gated communities or out in a small quiet town)
