Terminal train station parking ticket

I was waiting for my grandma for about 10-30minutes, i arrived a bit early because i had no idea when she was arriving for sure.

Long story short, I was inside my car the whole time, but i still got notified today that I have a parking violation.

In cases like this, we actually need to know the whole story.

Can't just say "I was inside my car the whole time" therefore the ticket is not valid.

Was your engine off? Were you in park? Did you pay the meter/purchase a ticket?

No stopping zones and no parking zones | City of Vancouver

No Parking

Section 3: If your vehicle stops, and is not loading or unloading passengers, it is parked, whether it is occupied or not.
Section 17.6A (a): You can stop in a No Parking zone for up to five minutes to load or unload passengers, or materials.

so your stopped in your car on a pay parking spot...
so your occupying a spot without buying a ticket...
so your complaining that you got a violation ticket for not getting a parking ticket...

A pay parking is what it is, you have to pay to park there... otherwise your taking up a spot that other people wants to pay to use...

Under cover parking officer probably caught you and reported your license.

The new parking meters in the terminal parking lot has cameras in them. I'm not sure how it works, probably takes a picture if you don't pay and sends you a violation. That parking lot used to be free.

10-30 minutes is quite the discrepancy.

Undercover meter maids and parking meters with cameras?
Good to know.

Sometimes when picking up my gf, I'll stop at a parking meter without paying or on a no stopping zone. (On less busy streets of course) I'll have my hand on the ignition, ready to leave. Every few seconds I'll look back and forth to make sure no meter maids are around. So far, I've been fortunate to not have received a ticket.

The meter patrols can be very sneaky... I've seen several instances of sneaky ways.

I saw one the other day and the officer looked like was part of the crowd because of the clothing. Only notice the person once the person came out to write up a violation.
