I have an eInk Kindle (not the Fire tablet) and I have almost 200 books on there right now. I also have a piece of software that will convert filetypes to work on my Kindle and I can even put comics on there.

Rather than having bookshelves stacked with books or having to lug a thick brick of a novel around if I want to read while waiting at appointments, I've got this light little Kindle thats ultraportable.

The only complaint that I have is that my particular generation of Kindle doesn't scale PDFs so if the original text is small, it can be hard to read. There are ways around that, however, and you can use a piece of software to convert PDFs to .mobi or .epub. Also, you can use a software management tool called Calibre which works better than the stock Amazon Kindle software for book management and organization.

Kindle is the industry standard, and they're pretty damn cheap. They have a good reputation and have a lot of support information available if you have any technical problems.

So what exactly are the differences between kindle and kobo? Checked out the kobo touch... It's so pretty :D

I use a Sony PRS-T1 and I like it. Apparently you can hack the Sony ones to do other things like play angry birds but I haven't tried or wanted to, I use it strictly for reading which is what I bought it for.

I spent over over a thousand on books the last 2 years because of this thing

I bought a Kobo Touch about 5 months ago for my trip to Europe because I didn't want to lug around heavy books to read on the plane etc. Didn't think I would use it much when I came back home because I love the feeling of reading real books, but it's awesome. I find that I read even more now because it is so convenient and you can bring it anywhere.

I agree that the e-ink readers are what to go for if you want to use it for reading. The others are too much like a tablet and I can't concentrate on their screens for as long.

I see tons of people reading them on the subway everyday as well.
