Washington Is First State to Allow Pot

Initiative 502 would decriminalize possession of up to an ounce of marijuana and make simple possession legal starting Dec. 6. In about a year, the law will establish an elaborate state-regulated apparatus for growing, processing and selling marijuana.

September 2014 is almost two years away, but our vindication is on the horizon too.

Quote:

Dana Larsen hopes a win in Washington will help his current campaign to put pot decriminalization to a B.C.-wide vote in September 2014.

“I think it’ll have a huge effect if Washington does,” said Larsen, whose “Sensible B.C.” campaign will be heading out into the street next September, hoping to have the same effect the anti-HST forces did in forcing a public vote.

“That will have a big impact in the United States, Canada, and British Columbia.”

Survey results released last week show that three out of four British Columbians now support the decriminalization of marijuana.

"Estimates of the value of B.C.’s marijuana crop range from $6 million to $8 billion — much of it destined for export south of the border."

6 million to 8 BILLION :lawl: They might aswell call it a shot in the dark not an estimate.

Isaiah11 11-06-2012 08:46 PM

StylinRed 11-06-2012 08:54 PM

It won't be a dispensary and you would need a prescription. My guess it will be sold like cigarettes or alcohol. I wonder how long before the tobacco companies step in.

Does this mean cheaper prices in canada next year? =)

MG1 11-06-2012 10:15 PM

It's not law yet. If I'm not mistaken, it's just the first step.

The majority want it, so that is a big step.

Harvey Specter 11-06-2012 10:18 PM

Like already posted, the vote and even state law means nothing because federally it can be overturned because on the federal level weed is still illegal.

The news was saying that the situation was basically the same for alcohol way back when. Some states took it upon themselves to legalize alcohol when it was still illegal on the federal level... but eventually the federal government relented and of course, alcohol is no longer illegal on any level.
