Rod thru engine block engine toast what to do?

Car: 97 Honda Civic hatch
Engine: B16A2
other mods: I/H/E stage 1 clutch stage 1 clutch street light flywheel short shift high end stereo custom paint rims.

I was planning on selling the car but a rod went thru the block and now my engine is toast. What are my options? I Have another car i can drive.
This is what I'm thinking.

Sell it as is
Part it out?
Replace the engine. maybe something cheap like a D series, or another B series? What kind of price an I looking at?

you always lose more money if you sell it as is.

I would suggest putting another motor in it if you can afford it, and drive it till it dies, or sell it soon after the swap.

If you try to sell it as is, people are hesitant to buy it for a decent price, because they cannot test drive to see if there are any other problems hidden aswell besides the blown motor. I would lowball the heck out of you if I was to consider buying a blown motor vehicle because of the risk of not knowing "what else might be wrong"

well a b16 is gona run you at least $1500 for a decent one, thats just engine not including anything that you might need to make it decent running shape, before install.

a ek is worth like what? 2-3k with d series depending on condition. b swapped running eks can be found starting from 4k.

most engines that have catastrophic failure like that usually can't be repaired with just a block... you'll more than likely need to replace the entire engine...

I've bought a couple of cars with thrown rods, 2 of the motors lately used some race bearings that were either generic size or just not measured properly. I forget but is the b16 interference? it's not too hard to just find a bottom end anywhere and throw your head on it, hell.. I'd use it as an excuse to do a b20vtec

unfortunately that one dropped a valve too lol

I got someone local offering a B18B for $600 with only 30K on it. Will also help with the instal. What do you guys think?
Super Dipper also has a B18C block that he will sell for $300 but it's in Victoria.

Edit: Install can be done for round $600.

i don't think it makes a difference whether the engine is interference or not (which it is)... when ur piston has no connection to the crank, it hits the valves, or hits the head... either way, there's damage to the head... maybe repairable, but most heads that i've seen that had a piston hitting it was marred or cracked... cheaper, easier and more reliable to replace the long block...

true, guess I just got lucky with the last few. either way a b18c is a nice choice but if you do need the head it's extra work. b18b is well not really a great engine, just your base model integra. why not try to source a b20 in general, you'll love the torque

Big thanx to Super Dipper. He picked up my car before Christmas and dropped it off today. Car runs awesome, lots more bottom end. He also installed power steering, makes a huge difference and took me a bit to get use too.
