Isn't it too soon for snow tires for city driving? I mean hell we only get a week or two max of snow every winter in the city. |
Winter tires work best at 7 degrees and under, doesn't necessarily need to have snow on the ground to use them effectively. |

Comparing SFU to Seymour is apples to oranges. I used to work on Mount Seymour and drive that road frequently day and night so I know how bad the road conditions can get and how they change quickly. They don't take very good care of the road during this time of year (no salting or sanding, you'd be lucky to see a plow at best). Throw in the fact there's zero light, constant risk of fog and poor visibility, plus the top of the mountain is basically abandoned at night except for one guy who lives up there. If the OP ended up getting stuck or in the ditch, everyone here would be singing a different tune. |

where did all this change of subject come from? last year I went up to cypress at night to test my volvo and its new snowies. I didn't drive like a douche. Just wanted to make sure control and braking was in order. I've also done the same with other cars to make sure they are suitable for winter. Heck, might even try it this soon with a 4x4. |
I don't know why some people seem to think driving in the snow is an automatic death wish. I guess its a lot different to me as I grew up driving in blizzard conditions more often than those that grew up here even drove in a light skiff probably. Its funny though people lecturing this guy for going and feeling what his car is like in the snow. Its nice to know before you are around a bunch of other cars/people that have no idea. |
shovel, chains, mountain-snowflake rated all-terrains, recovery strap and shackles. ready to go :fullofwin: |

Driving in "Vancouver winters" is extremely manageable as long as you're not an idiot and have some common sense. |

^I'd be worried if you had any trouble, the rest of us would be screwed lol. Just picked up my Altimax Arctics from TRS; $352 from Discount Tire Direct and didn't get charged at the border either. Dropping by TSS tomorrow for mounting, can't wait to try them out. The sidewall is hella soft though. |
EDIT: I got stuck up on Seymour skiing with a buddy today... T4RAWR i need your phone number. :( What kind of beer do you drink again? http://i738.photobucket.com/albums/x...0/photo-35.png |
