Snowies got their first workout today. (Pics)

EDIT: I got stuck up on Seymour skiing with a buddy today... T4RAWR i need your phone number. :( What kind of beer do you drink again?

I decided to head up seymour and see how the new snowies are in the snow, There was about 2-3 inches of snow on the road, and about 8-10 at the top in the parking lot:

Snow tires are brand new Hankook i*cept evo w310, in 215/45/17. For a performance snow which handles about as well as a good all season in the dry, They do quite well in the snow imho, On the road up, 2-3 inches it felt perfect, Very good control... I stopped and started with minimal wheel spin on a fairly steep Seymour hill, Only ran into some trouble once i got to the top and stopped in some foot deep drifts... I suspect ground clearence (lack of it) was also a big factor in this however, Some wheel spin and I was out. On the way down, Even fairly hard braking yielded great results, with minimal anti lock. Great overall tire for the money! Highly reccomended by me... (140/corner) Car is an 07 Civic Si.

P.S: To the idiot in the newer prius obviously running crappy all seasons/summers, put on Winters or don't come up the Mountain... Or at the very least try not to come so close to sliding into me...

Neon driving in circles in the snow... fail - YouTube

If i could fail you i would... It clearly says "NEON" in the title of the video, and you can see "Si" emblazed on the seats in the picture, aswell as neons don't have a digital speedo. Plus, I know where my handbrake is, If i wanted to do that. You won't see me driving in circles. :failed:

hopalong 11-12-2012 07:43 PM

Neons have round lights. Original op of vid could be wrong. But still cool story bro. Worth starting a new thread.

Go up Seymour in a Civic, pitch darkness and snowing just to try out the snow tires. I would not put myself in a situation like that unless I have to. So smart...

hopalong 11-12-2012 07:49 PM

I just simply asked if it was you. Simple question that got you all butt hurt. you could of just said no it wasn't you.

Not trying to shit on your thread, but a majority of the time its other drivers you have to be careful of, the ones that are not prepared to handle the adverse weather conditions. For example that prius driver that almost slid into you. None the less I'm sure you had fun :)

was it easy to slide the back out? :fullofwin:

You are right, Avoiding everyone else is 80% of driving. And yes, The back came out effortlessly with a tad bit of e-brake.

x2 Hankooks are awesome tires for the money, i just go all season ventus V2 and their awesome so far.

FN-2199 11-12-2012 09:28 PM

To the OP, good on you for going out there and testing your setup. Not a lot of drivers know how to handle themselves in snow, and the best way is to practice in an empty lot.
I wouldn't have gone up there in the dark myself but hey, when you're excited, why not?

LOL, If there's a bunch of snow that would be helpful, i can see myself getting stuck quite easily if there's more than a foot. Perhaps we should create something in the social meets? INFACT, There's supposed to be a dumping saturday...
