BUMPING this thread!

My buddy is planning to propose and asked me to capture some images. I own a 24-70 F2.8 and 85 F1.8.

I used my 24-70 100% of the time a few months ago when I helped another buddy shoot his proposal. Would any of you guys use the 85? The 24-70 seems to be able to do it all.

I absolutely love my Sigma 85mm f1.4 as well but it isn't my go to for everyday shooting. My walk around lens is the 35mm f1.4.

The 35mm 1.8 is the only lens that I use.

I had the 18-55mm and the 55-200mm, but found them unnecessary for my style.

My go to lens, is the Canon 17-40F4L. Why? Because it's the only lighter lens I own. Although I do really enjoy the 70-200 2.8 for basically everything!

Out of three lenses (EF-S 17-85 kit, old EF 75-300, and EF 50/1.8), I'd have to say the Nifty-50 sees the most use. Just love how fast it is vs. the other two.

I am planning on doing my backpacking trip with a 17-40 mounted on my new 6D and a cheap and light zoom in the pack, something like the Tamron 55-200mm that I took with me to Spain. I found that on my recent trip to Spain, I took a TON of photos at 17mm and really would not be happy with the compromise to 24mm to replace it with a 24-105.

If I were to go birding daily or something like that, then most likely yes!

So are many of these go to lenses wide angle? What constitutes a wide angle lense?

Since 50mm is the standard (on full frame), I would say anything below that is wide.

My go to is the Sigma 35mm f1.4
