100-400L lens repair

my 100-400L has developed a fault in the IS system. It's not under warranty.
so the situation is when I try to focus by half pressing the shutter, the image jumps up and down and the F stop switches back and forth from 00.

The lens will simply not focus because of that. I have to release the shutter and press it again to get the lens to re focus. Once it gets a focus lock, then the IS seems to work fine.

Is there a repair centre in vancouver or my only choice is to send it to Canon for the flat repair fee plus shipping.

I've searched and this issue is definitely not an isolated case with the 100-400L. Does anyone on here experienced this before?

Anything with IS will have to go back to Canon - The Vancouver area service centers won't touch anything with it.

As much as I love and own Canon gear, I wish they'd be like Nikon and open a service center in VanCity

Yup, off to Mississauga, unfortunately.
