Also, I think I'm gonna rename this thread.

-edit-

There we go. Much better. I would never want to take a product which made me lose *more* hair.

Soundy 12-02-2012 06:02 PM

I wanted to take some Rogaine once, but the cashier insisted I pay for it...

my mom swears by kaminimoto...

my friend did this expensive surguery ($35,000?) where they take the hair follicles from the back of your head and stick em in the front and it still grows like normal.

He said it was an 8 hour procedure in which u are awake the whole time.

Graeme S 12-02-2012 09:07 PM

Yep. They literally take hunks of skin off the back and sides of your head, remove the follicles, and then re-transplant them elsewhere on your head. This evens out your hair all over your head, and results in a more natural yet thinner look.

I assume he had it done here? I had some students who were nurses at plastic surgery clinics in korea; typically you'd be looking at $6-12,000 there.

Even with the cost of a ticket and hotel, you're saving money. And you get a "free" vacation!

Ya he did it locally. Told me a story bout how another client signed on to do it like 3-4 times but backed out at the last second each time. Non refundable. Wasn't til the last time that the doctor really tried to convince him it's worth going through with it.

lol sounds a bit ludicrous but I guess it would work. I'm starting to lose so much hair by the second, especially since I started growing my hair out longer than usual. Don't think I would consider doing surgery to keep my hair. Might consider the rogaine stuff everyones talking about tho. :concentrate:

Graeme S 12-02-2012 09:32 PM

One of the issues with the Rogaine and other skin-hormone treatments is that you have to do them crazily regularly and for the rest of your life.

Me, I'm too lazy for that. Shaved head it is!

Hondaracer 12-02-2012 09:56 PM

35k sounds like a great exaggeration, Hasson and Wong who are amongst the best in the entire world are here in Vancouver, they can do a whole head basically for 12-15k, asuming it's just the typic cul-de-sac, you can get varrying levels of coverage but not one example I've ever seen pictured was more than 15-18

i know 2 people who have gone to this place and its worked for the both of them only problem one of them showed me was a line in the back of his head that looks something similar to a double chin other than that they both say that its well worth it and the cost i recall was around 10k 4 years ago.

I have my hair trimmed down to clip 2 since I was 20, i'm 32 next week. I still have hair on my head but I know eventually I'm going to go bald (runs in my family) so might as well stick with the shaved head. It really is buyer beware with meds and surgeries because both have side effects and imo isn't really worth the long term complications that might occur.

I'd rather get a wig, one of my uncles has one and I swear you can't even tell that he's wearing one but he did spend quite a bit money on it.

There's Proscar which are tiny tablets you take daily. They work the same as Rogaine bout are more expensive.

Hondaracer 12-03-2012 07:52 AM

It's completely different and their intended uses are different as well

Sometimes I wear a hat but generally speaking a fuck could be given about my hair at this point.

Same here, minus the hat part. I can't pull off the shaved look (did it once a couple years ago for a halloween costume) and hats bug my head. :okay:

proscar, stops hair loss. plus proscar being originally for prostate (normal dosage) is covered by group (employer) benefits

rogain promotes hair growth.

not the same thing....

Just saw this video a few days ago and thought it would be quite fitting to post up.

That's what my doctor told me. She told me rogaine slows down hair loss.
