I'm still failing to understand why there's a shop opening. Sure, it might do "okay" for the first few weeks, but after that I'm pretty sure it's gonna tank. Boy bands (or whatever you want to classify these guys as... I've never heard a single one of their songs) are fads. They wont stay popular enough to justify having stores devoted to them stay open for too long.

A few bands in the past might be able to pull it off (think of heavy weights like Lennon, Pink Floyd and the like... bands with fans who actually have spending power behind them), but for groups like this one... nah.

One Direction pop-up store to open in Vancouver

first 1D World retail store in the Pacific Northwest.

The store opens 9 a.m. Dec. 8

Read more: One Direction pop-up store to open in Vancouver
It's a pop-up store (temporary) and given its opening date I assume it will only be open for the Christmas shopping season and boxing day

side note, first in Pacific North West (not many feasible options other than Vancouver )

Is there that much of a market for some shitty boy band's concert tees? Seriously?

And how does one band have enough merch after...what...a year to justify an entire store?

their music is hot right now and it sells. It's a great marketing idea if you really think about it.

Think about if the Backstreet Boys or someone had the amount of social media coverage as these guys do today. These would have been everywhere throughout the 90's.

Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, etc. make it so easy for bands to explode within an extremely short period of time.
