BMW 4 Series Coupe Concept

Quote:
Details of the new 4-Series Coupe concept have been released after images of the car leaked out onto the internet. The new model could be the slightly more upmarket replacement for the current 3-Series Coupe, and is expected to make its first public unveiling at the Detroit motor show next month.

Choosing the 4-Series name would move the car into its own class according to BMW, and the designers have been able to give the 4-Series its own personality, using lower and wider proportions, luxurious interior trim and sharp new detailing.

The dimensions all point to a more luxurious and slightly larger 3-Series Coupe replacement. The wheelbase is 50mm longer, while the overall track has been increased by 45mm at the front and 80mm at the rear.

Although this is officially just a concept, it’s thought that the car is almost production-ready, with convertible and four-door Gran Coupe models also expected.

looks great minus the diffuser/grille above the exhausts
Any idea how they'll price this? $65K in Canada then close to six figures for the M4?

that's so wrong on so many levels. it's like they're doing it for the sake of having more models

Isn't it a bit late for a "concept" vehicle??
I thought they are going to unveil the actual 4 series next month in detroit's auto show, and it will be available for delivery Mid/Late 2013.

I always thought the 4 series will be just like the 3 series coupe (young and sporty) but this looks so much more "mature"...
Feels more like the 6 series grand coupe than the new F30 3 series...

Also, is it just me or does the side profile really resemble the Accord Coupe?

The rear end looks like an angry face to me, idk lol. But still, it looks very nice and.. BMWish. lol. Just do something about that side vent, it's kinda out of place.

Looks really nice. I wonder if the leather dash, leather upper door parts, suede headliner will make it to production?

Nothing wrong with having lines like the s5 or accord coupe, those are very good looking cars.

First thought from side profile was the A/S5 to me. Looks good, more aggressive lines and proportions than the current 3 coupe

This has probably been asked in the past, but i missed it. With the introduction of these new "series," does the M3 now become the M4?

I hope not. That's kind of messing with tradition (though adding an M badge to the X5 and other various models has already muddled it up already). It's kinda like how Dodge took the Charger name of old and gave it to a 4 door family car.

/rant

That said, at least it's a decent looking car. Just not unique enough to stand out from the rest of the BMW lineup.

I like the new look, but what a shame about the naming.

The 3 series started as a coupe in the seventies, and has been available as a coupe ever since. There was no need to have another number, they had decades of tradition and recognition to build from. Now they have to start from scratch with another model...
