Just announcing on Global that the video of the Surrey hit-and-run has led to an arrest.

Another driver who stopped to check on the women noticed another white car stopped up the road, with the driver watching what was going on... thought that was odd, so he wrote down the plate. When he saw the video on the news, he put it all together and called the cops.

The vehicle is, in fact, an X1.

Or they could change the design of intersections. When people are crossing, there should be no green light at all. When the cars move, people don't cross. How hard can it be?

refer to shitty/dangerous driver thread. making it a red won't change a thing

Glad they caught the scumbag. Had my doubts about it being an X1 in the first place, but after I saw the flashing side marker and the shape of the wheel wells, I knew it was an X1.

Justice is served.

seriously thought it wasn't a x1 too.. thought it would be something way bigger.

Court appearance set for May 13th  oh Canada...

Acura604 12-06-2012 05:41 PM

53yr old Surrey man.

Names...I want names!

Akinari 12-06-2012 05:42 PM

The fact that he stuck around the scene of the accident acting suspiciously, instead of driving away definitely says something about his character  Makes things even worse that he didn't come help and simply stood there.

This situation totally makes me want to get a dash cam. But unfortunately black vue is not battery operated.

I already do that when I go biking on road and off road. You never know. ^^

This is great that they got the driver.

Note: This is why I always shoulder check even if I have the pedestrian green light to cross. I can't trust drivers unless I know I've made eye contact with them in the intersection.

Not to blame the women in this case but we really need to educate other runners or pedestrians to have common sense too. I see too many poeple crossing the street without even turning their head because they assume the cars will see and stop for them.

Now adays, I see too many people crossing the street while staring at their smart phones. That is an accident waiting to happen.

Barring this incident, it's hard to place fault on a certain party (drivers vs. pedestrians) through generalization.

I almost hit some asshole jaywalking on a rainy night wearing all black, and I almost hit an old lady crossing the street because it was an unprotected green left turn on my lane and she was right behind my A-pillar blind-spot.

Honestly, as long as everyone does their part to avoid any possible tragedies it's less likely to happen.

And in the unfortunate case where there is an incident, man the fuck up and show some responsibility. I hope this fuck gets hit hard.
