No this is not from MM Design..Audi R8 'China Edition'

New and Blue Audi R8 China Edition Looking for 80 Wealthy Chinese Customers - Carscoop
Quote:

With a population in excess of 1.3 billion and a booming economy, something tells us that Audi won't have much of a problem finding 80 buyers interested in its limited run R8 China Edition that was built exclusively for the country featured in its name.
In what will likely sound odd to the ears of Westerners, the cars will be numbered from 1 to 99, and that's because Chinese consider 4 an unlucky number, so Audi decided to eliminate it.

"To respect the cultural habit of Chinese customers, all numbers with 4 are removed from the serial numbers 1-99," the carmaker said in its press blurb.

The China Edition is based off the pre-facelift R8 V10 borrowing exterior and interior elements from the friskier GT, such as the front bumper winglets, alloy wheel designs, the carbon fiber mirrors, rear wing and the part leather, part Alcantara interior with carbon fiber trimmings.

Power is provided by a 5.2-liter V10 FSI engine rated for 511hp (518PS) and 530Nm (391 lb-ft) that takes the R8 China Edition to 100km/h (62mph) from standstill in 3.9 seconds.

It seems like many European sports car makers are making limited edition cars only for the Chinese
market.

What sports car is coming next into China? Bugatti Veyron China edition?

-remembered about hearing about the "Tiger edition" of the M3 for China.

Lambo Murcielago SV China edition.

They are making 80 but numbering it 1-99 because they are taking out any number with 4. (source: ops article, read it)

Nice touch by audi though this would be expected if they were gonna sell it as a china edition.

SpuGen 12-07-2012 07:02 PM

Wait. Why isn't it red?

Volvo-brickster 12-07-2012 09:32 PM

Those designer bags you mentioned are partly made in China. The Fashion House then ship it back to Europe and do some final work on it and label it Made in Italy, Made in Paris etc...

twitchyzero 12-08-2012 01:36 PM

why are the higher end auto companies all of a sudden nut-hugging the ultra-wealthy in china?
I don't recall a similar treatment to the same demographics in middle east

I'm sure the percentage of the super rich in middle east isn't that much smaller than china's...and status symbol must be fairly important too

Cars gunna run on 5 wheels with gear five matching gear ratios with gear 4 so that they dun't have to ever enter gear 4 while also sporting a moonroof to offset the 4 pieces of glass.:suspicious:
