After witnessing a severe accident, often a person will feel the need to share the experience with someone to release a bit of pressure, and given that the internet is meant for sharing, I don't feel that this thread is at all inappropriate; it's not as if the space this thread occupies is a valuable resource being squandered. There's too much of a focus on qualifying the content of a thread... imho

Sorry, didn't notice that from thumbnail.

He wasn't bleeding that much at all. Luckly, taxi wasn't going too fast.

I witnessed some kid on a bike 2 months ago get hit by car right in front me, driver wasn't at fault but the kid went flying. His dad came running full speed down the street screaming, still can't get the mental picture out of my head. Not sure what happen to the kid though but he was moving.

And I see people darting into traffic like no big deal, just two nights ago in the pissing rain I witnessed an idiotic bus driver running across SW Marine Drive and almost getting hit by a truck. The guy in the truck honked so the bus driver decided to return the horn by fingering the driver. Like seriously wtf are some people thinking?!

Wasn't trying to give OP a hard time - sorry if comments seemed that way.

I hope you can put the bad feelings behind and use the incident as a reminder to stay safe, as you've mentioned.

no worries, I didn't take it that way. :)

I mainly deleted my post because I didn't think it was inappropriate with bit of blood showing. (which I didn't notice before posting)

I need to vent, got few replies out of it.. and that's all I needed.
Can't really talk to anyone at 3am.. lol

Are you automatically banned from Taxi driving if you hit a pedestrian?

XplicitLuder 12-09-2012 10:05 AM

im "glad"(not for the victims...) the latest streak of pedestrian collisions have been raising awareness.

Even though giving 'right of way for pedestrians' is pretty solid in vancouver, i often see people just cross the road without even looking both ways.... or they see an incoming car and while it would be safer and faster to let them pass, pedestrians slowly take a step into the sidewalk forcing a car to stop abruptly....

:fulloffuck:

thinking that cars going at fast speeds will suddenly be able to stop for them.

bing 12-09-2012 05:43 PM

People should use more caution especially in the winter when the days get darker faster and that means wearing appropriate clothing (i.e. don't wear all dark colors) and be very sure that all other cars see you before you cross.

As a pedestrian, I don't trust other cars whether I have right or way or not because even if their wrong, I'm either dead or injured. Car > person - all day, everyday.

QFT.

Too many pedestrians here have that "I have the right-of-way so GTFO" mentality.

They may have the right of way, but the driver isn't going to be the one crippled for life, or worse.

True, if driver can't see you, or if you jump in front of traffic, "right-of-way" doesn't mean shit.

Too many idiots out there.
