recommend a wireless gaming headset

gonna treat myself this Christmas and get a wireless headset, however i have no clue whats out there.

what i need:
NOT a set of cans. i don't want my ears covered. too hot.
a mic. obviously.
battery powered. prefer usb or docking station.
lightweight
budget, around $100-$150
OS: Windows

what are your choices?

I got the Logitech G930 for my Comp, and I absolutely love them.. 7.1 and an option to replace the batteries if they ever die... But they cover the ears.

I also have the F430 for my consoles which are great for me but nothing special.

G930 for PC
excellent surround effects
very comfortable
good button layouts
great battery life..and can extended cord when you charge so you can still play (battery pack is replaceble)
great range
build quality mediocre (I see lots of owners breaking their's...I take good care of my stuff so that never happens)
very meh when listening to music
PC only
the quirks: when I plug into USB sometimes it takes a good 20 seconds to get recognized (could just be my USB drivers) and sound is minimal to start with occasionally..have to turn up the dial by one notch so it recognize it's last volume position

Sony Pulse Wireless Stereo Headset for PS3
good for listening to music..can connect to your mp3/ipod/tablet
works with your PC (althogh you dont have rumble/surround)
excellent build quality
surround effects are not as good as the Dolby found in G930
mic is hidden (so you can use this outside of your house without looking like a tool)
rumbling is a bit gimmicky IMO
after 2 hours of wear it's not comfortable if you wear glasses
battery life only good for 6 hrs

both of these are closed ears though...I have a unused open-ear gaming headset with external amp I'm willing to part with..not wireless though...PM if interested

The G930 is on Dell's Daily Deal for $110:
Logitech Wireless Gaming Headset G930 : Gaming:Consoles and Gaming Accessories | Dell Canada

Not sure if that's a good deal. NCIX has it on sale for 135 from 180, right now, to compare.

only thing i find with a wireless headset, they're alot heavier than corded ones

i've had icemat siberas for about 5 years now, and probably the best pair i've ever owned (corded though =[ )

I ended up getting the Sony PS3 Pulse headset. Pricematched with Amazon.ca for $114 and had a $25 gift card to use. not BT but wireless.

however it occasionally interferes with my Wifi. very comfy and looks good. Also has a vibration function that actually rattles your head during explosions or bass heavy music.

also has removable 3.5mm cable so i can use with my phone too. the usb dongle has an input for other sources like a tv as well.

the Logitech G930 was my next choice, but after reading horrible reviews of its construction i went with the Sony.

Iv never read one poor review on the g930.. Just that they are not the best for music. I own a set, and I find the fit, construction, and comfort top notch.

I've gone through two of these headsets now, and both have broken in the same manner. A small, plastic plate is screwed over the base of the left earpiece. It holds the "joint" of the earpiece to the frame that goes on your head. This plate is easily broken just from sitting the headphones on your desk. The plate cracks and snaps off the screws, leaving the joint open to fall out, making the headset practically useless. I've rigged mine with tape, but it is unreliable.

I won't be buying another one.
seen more than a few of these reviews

on another note, my Sony's have a hidden mic and no annoying sick in my face. I can wear them outside and not feel like a reh-tard.

^ i like the convenience...and the surround effects work well for spatial orientation for me in FPS games. Personally I think attaching a clip-on mic to your audiophile grade headphones is kinda silly...not to mention you need to invest in a sound card as well

well they are nothing like my Monster Lil Jamz sadly. its a different experience than with IEM's.

they seem almost too loud. which is why i would have preferred open ear cans.

i find i ended up turning off the pulse option as it was more annoying than anything especially when everything is booming in a game.

also my ears get really warm. may be good for winter outdoors. however i have some Senheiser HD 201s already.

note, when plugged into the 3.5mm cable the cans become passive, IE: not running on battery. make sure your headphone source has the juice to run em.

my headset is definitely not worth $170. good thing i was able to get it for $83 instead

the build quality is okay..

surround sound is great, but not enough bass for my liking

listening to music was alright.. movies was okay too

it only excels in gaming in my opinion, everything else was mediocre

I'm looking to get a wireless headset that I'll be hooking up to my TV to use with the PS3 and 360 for late night gaming sessions.

Is it as simple as plugging it into the audio out of the tv? I will be about 10 feet away from the TV.
