The Official RS News Report for Roads

Since its pretty crazy outside with lots of road closures and now the snow, I thought it would be appropriate to start a thread about these inside tips so we can get to where we need safely and relatively on time.

As of 1PM today, Fraser going southbound and northbound is stuck due to a tree falling down onto Fraser (from the cemetery side). This is right between 41st and 40th so try to take an alternate route.

*edit: also, if you don't have snow tires on, please stay off the road. I've passed by too many cars stuck going up slight hills.

avoid the port mann, giant snow balls falling from the cable wires

Gh0stRider 12-19-2012 12:38 PM

-RCMP shutting down #PortMann bridge. Big chunks of ice falling on to vehicles below.

-Fraser Street closed between 33rd to 41st due to weather conditions

-King George closed north/westbound 108th Ave to 128th St, stalled semis

Gh0stRider 12-19-2012 02:27 PM

They are estimating the bridge will open between 4 and 6 p.m.

Presto 12-19-2012 02:28 PM

Rush hour is starting. The highway cam shows that the bridge line-up begins at Kensington!

As of ~3PM South bound granville -> arthur laing bridge. avoid if lowered car.

Huge ass flood.

Edit: To clarify, it's right at the merge where you merge onto Arthur Laing to enter Richmond.

Lower Mainland RCMP @LMDRCMP
Assessment of Port Mann bridge continues. Bridge remains closed. Numbers of reported damaged vehicles is increasing. Injuries remain at 2.

inv4zn 12-19-2012 03:15 PM

Any area around highway 1 entrance/exits are massively backed up.

Seriously, if you can, stay where you are and chill for about 4 hours.

It's retarded out there.

Yeah somewhere around that, if you're continuing along Marine you're safe, but if you're heading up onto the bridge you're fucked. My friend's stock height Mazda 3 Sport barely made it.

Not sure if its drained or whatever by now or still there.

freakshow 12-19-2012 04:14 PM

wow.. looks like the world is falling apart out there. makes sense since we only have two more days to live..
