LOL

Burnaby RCMP is asking frustrated shoppers snarled up in Boxing Day traffic not to call 911.

Staff-Sgt. Steve Crawford said the detachment has received at least one phone call from a fed-up driver who dialed 911 to enlist the Mounties help in getting her out of a crowded Burnaby mall parking lot.

Did anyone see the guy on the news? He waited 7 hours outside BB to buy HDMI cables. Seriously?

I ended up going to NCIX in Langley to pick up a couple parts for my new video editing computer. Got some ram, a new heat sink, and a cheapo hybrid drive. That's on top of the SSD I bought online. Pretty sure I met some guy who's also on Revscene while waiting in line. Got around to talking about filming stuff with GoPro's. At least it helped make the time go by faster.

If you picked it up in stores, don't they give you a $150 BB gift card or something crazy? or is that just new acts?

what do you expect? It was always pack and crowded even on a regular weekend.

To be honest other than door crashers and some good stuff is usually better to wait till Jan/Feb there is sale at that time and less people.

METRO VANCOUVER - Boxing Day shoppers stuck in traffic took desperate measures Wednesday to escape gridlock east of Vancouver: they phoned 911.

Burnaby RCMP received a flurry of calls Wednesday afternoon from frustrated shoppers stuck on streets and in parking lots in the area, particularly at Metrotown, said Staff Sgt. Robert Marks.

“Obviously, people on Boxing Day are out returning things and doing their shopping. It’s the traffic and people not being able to exit parking lots at the mall that’s causing this. So it’s kind of an unusual call to get as far as 911 calls are concerned,” Marks said.

He said the calls started coming in around noon and continued into the evening.

The onslaught of callers finally prompted Burnaby RCMP Staff Sgt. Steve Crawford to send out a Twitter plea around 2 p.m. on the @BurnabyRCMP account to stop dialing the emergency number for traffic problems: “Shoppers stuck in heavy Boxing Day sales parking lot traffic, pls don't tie up 9-1-1 emergency lines to report it's taking too long.”

Crawford said one caller Mounties spoke with claimed to have been stuck for over an hour in a parking lot.

The calls were more than just a nuisance, Marks added.

“You can imagine that when you do receive those 911 calls, they tie up the lines and prevent people from what could be legitimate 911 calls,” he said. “There’s only a limited number of lines.”

why would Canadiens have a big sale after Christmas? Wouldn't it make more sense to have it before Christmas since that's when everyone needs to buy presents?

We've been having sales since November at different department stores.

This x1000.
I didn't plan on doing any boxing day shopping today because I knew it would be a clusterfuck, but my friend called me this morning at 9 to ask me to go to metro and my still asleep brain took over and decided to say yes. We drove down to metro at around 9:30. BIGGEST MISTAKE EVER. We literally circled the parking lot for almost 2 hours before deciding to park at the residential areas across the street. Once inside the mall, it was ridiculously packed, lines were stupidly long. Picked up some stuff at F21, but the line pretty much stretched across the store, so back on the rack they went. Went home empty-handed. I have decided I will not do any boxing day shopping unless I actually have something that I want in mind. Never. Again.

Metrotown parking was fucking ridiculous today... From a slot underneath the bus loop to Central Boulevard exit usually takes a good 30s to drive through on a normal day.

Today, the same drive took approximately 30 minutes, and a fuck ton of honking to get out. Metrotown on Boxing Day is no longer worth it. Place is a gong show. Can't even buy coffee at Timmy's while waiting for the girls to finish at Sephora...

Oakridge was a lot better. Empty parking stalls up on the roof, open till 9, and was able to cop a sport coat at half price. Plus, only 2 people in line for the Starbucks. Much better place to be than Metrotown...

In other news, why was the traffic so backed up going to Queensborough Landing?

Yeah, don't go out without a game plan, especially to places like Metrotown. My buddy and I arrived at NCIX a little after 5 and we were the first group let in. Sure, we waited for two hours outside, but it genuinely wasn't that bad. I had a movie streaming in my car through my tablet to keep us entertained for a while, and the weather was decent enough that we didn't have to worry about getting wet. However, if there weren't specific things we wanted, we wouldn't have gone.

Basically it boils down to whether you want to stand in the cold for a few hours to save potentially hundreds of dollars, or if sleep and convenience is more important.

Got the Playstation 3D TV today as well along with Playstation allstar battle royal. Was contemplating it at $150 a few weeks ago so $99 was a really good deal. Also got memory cards and a hard drive. Woke up at 5:45 went to bestbuy and got back into bed by 6:20 lol. Would never line up for this stuff anymore
