any recommendations on places that offer good deals on parts?


Looking for:

ARB front bumper
2" Body lift
2-3" Suspension lift
Something similar to Cragar Soft 8's
and some recommended 33x12.5's

Looks like a good purchase! I'm no help finding the best prices for those, but I will put my $0.02 in about your bumper choice because I have a huge hard-on for Shrockworks anything on Xterra's: :fappery:

Shrockworks and ARB seem to be both around the same price....i agree its pretty damn nice...ill look into both and see which i can get a better deal on :)

As for tires i'm gonna recommend some Hankook Dynapro RT03's. They are a wicked MT offroad, have awesome snow/ice characteristics and don't hum loud on the highway at all.

I would stay away from bodylifts, just based primarily on a personal thing that they really don't do anything. If Old Man Emu sells a kit for your truck I would rock one of those, I had one on my 4runner and loved it. Nissan Xterra lifts, suspension, parts & accessories at the lowest prices

And to be honest the ARB bumpers are wicked, I just personally find them expensive for what they are. Not sure how expensive they are for your truck but at least get a winch for it so you can justify having it hahah.

+1 for staying away from body lifts. lift as much as needed but as little as possible. if you can clear 33's with the suspension lift and some trimming (it can be nice if you try, despite what people say) i'd go with that. wheel offset makes a huge difference

i'm running a fresh set of 35" bfg km2's, and they're one of the best all around tires i've had on my truck, i ran pro comp tires and goodyear MTR's before these and they're all in the same price range. they balance PERFECTLY, almost like a car tire. no filling them with coolant, no beads. i've heard of the sidewalls being easy to damage but i had them aired down to 10psi and the sidewalls folded up against rocks, no problem.

Ya i can fit 33's stock on this truck. I just have to adjust the offest of the rim so that i can fit a 12.5 wide tire. They will probably stick out past my fenders about an inch or so, but that looks hella awesome. Suspension lift for sure. I think OME makes a kit for my truck, just cant decide how big i want. Ya, im having a hard time justifying spending 1000$ + on an arb bumper. Unless i can find something similar for less then ill pick up the rear bumper as well. I definately will buy a winch if iget a nice bullbar though

Most/all of the OME lifts will get you anywhere from 2-4" of lift. The 4runner one was advertised as about 2-3" of lift but in the rear I easily got 4" out of it (that was with the heavy duty coils).

What you have to remember is that you have an ifs truck, anything over 3-4" of lift and you're gonna start needing to drop your front diff. Drop bracket lifts (or whatever they're called) such and are utterly pointless performance wise.

i think if you ran 33's with 3" of lift thats about all you'll need.

Hardly pointless it makes room for more tire and more tire gives more clearance under the diff.
Thats like saying lifting a solid axle truck is pointless.
But all other statements are correct. Stay away from body lifts if possible and only lift enough to fit the tire you intend on running. Also the bigger the tire the bigger the problems in terms of reliability and driveability. If you can fit a 33 with just minor rubbing on your sheetmetal and a small body lift will correct that then thats the route I would go unless your willing to trim. First off its not a killer price wise and when you decide to go bigger your not tossin away an expensive suspension lift and almost all truck progress as your wheeling progresses. Secondly a small body lift wont alter the driving characteristics of your truck so its on road manners wont change.

Anybody know the cheapest palce to buy arb/ome stuff locally or in the states?

states will probably be the cheapest. nsor has a price match thing where they will try to get the closest to the price possible so give them a call first.

I believe i can fit 33's with minimal rub, but since i want 12.5 wide. Ill have to get a new offset wheels and probably trim and BFH a bit. Im hoping with the purchase of a new bumper i can get away without trimin my front bumper and just take of the front mud flap.

When i was looking for a bumper for my 4Runner, I found that the freight more or less equaled the difference between quotes I got from here vs from the states. I still wouldve had to pay taxes and duty on top of that, so it made more sense to just get it locally. You could always have it shipped to Point Roberts, but I personally didnt want to deal with hauling it across the border. Not to mention it shows up in a box about 6' long and weighs 160 lbs. I got mine from Extreme Bends in PoCo for ~$1700, lead time was around 2 weeks.

If you decide to go with an ARB lift, I would recommend the heavies. I had the medium lift and my front end sagged about an inch after the bumper and winch was installed.

im torn as hell regarding lift options. there are so many packages out there, i just want a decent one with heavy duty front end for the bar and winch

The OME was by far the most economical option for me (which was the main reason I went with them). I also didn't want to have to worry about corrosion on a coilover which steered me away from that direction even more. I ordered mine from Toytec Lifts in Colorado for just under $850 shipped when everyone else here quoted me somewhere in the ballpark of $1300 for parts only. I'm all for supporting local businesses but that's like $450 difference which paid for my light bar even after taxes.

With no bumper and just the medium springs I found the ride a bit uncomfortable, it was stiff to the point where it was almost jarring. I was regretting my choice at this point.

With the heavy springs and the bumper and on though, its very comfortable. They don't have any valving options for shocks, so it seems as though they're meant for the heavies.
I have absolutely no complaints, but part of me also wonders if I'd be happier if I'd gone with an Icon Stg 1 kit or something.

How easy is the install for the OME kit? Or did u pay to get it done? If so, how much and where?

Everyone seems to be getting 3-4" lift on the Ome kit, but i cant find any higher than 2.5" for the xterra

Apparently its not quite as easy as the DIY posts on the in the internet makes it seem lol. I paid a good friend of mine his shop rate to do it. The difficult part is compressing the heavy springs which apparently can get quite sketchy.

My truck ended up taking a while because it had a self leveling rear air system that needed to be converted back to springs and I was missing parts for the conversion that I didn't know I needed. I also did UCA's and had a few seized nuts and bolts so it all adds up.

I know Tireland on Kingsway and Dale's Alignment will do installs with alignment for quite a reasonable price.

And ya, after a quick search it appears that lift kits for your truck are more expensive than mine lol.
