Buying Electronic in Oregon (No Tax?)

Taking my girlfriend to Woodburn outlet in Portland Oregon and will be spending a day there. I heard there are no tax in Oregon. Even with electronics like laptop? car stereo? from BestBuy? what if the item I want is in BestBuy US online?

Thanks Guys

Correct, there's no tax on pretty much everything as far as I can remember. Went down a year ago and there was no tax on the DSLR I bought from BB

Although there is no tax down there, you may be required to pay one on your way back over the boarder(dependant on the length of your stay outside the country and how much you spent). Just something to be mindful of when determining if the price of something is cheaper down there or not.

I'm taking my gf and her frd, so we have total of 3 people staying for 1 night.

I thought the boarder custom raised the spending limit in US?

They did, but I believe its still minimal compared to >48hrs. Can't recall off the top of my head, and its a pain browsing tabs on my phone.

We will actually spend between 35~45 hours in the States

Since we have 3 people, if each bought $500 worth, they should be able let us through haha without paying tax

You are probably long done and over with this trip, but Fry's Electronics makes Best Buy look like a Radio Shack when it comes to Electronics. So on your next trip down hit up Fry's its right off of I-5 about 10 miles before Woodburn. I am staying in Oregon right now, been here for 3 weeks so far and I go to Fry's about once a week for something.

why don't you just order ONLINE and ship to mail box. you don't have to pay for taxes on a lot of websites you buy from.

DUTIES when you cross the border is a TOTALLY different thing.

Because shipping and UPS kills the deal.

Had my dad pick up $600 worth of subs from Hagen's of Blaine. He was charged nothing and was there for less than 2 hours.

if it's a big-ticket item sure but your average camera/laptop whatever will make more sense to just buy online.

since OP is already going to Portland it's not a big deal.

Fry's electronics is fucking beast...It's like best buy, memory express and ncix all combined together in a Costco warehouse and everything is out on the shelf for you to feel/see.

Fries are the best, especially with some vinegar and black peppah!
