you have to roll it first before they will take it.

SumAznGuy 12-25-2012 07:47 PM

Don't those machines at Safeway take a percentage or take your money and give you in store credit?

Personally, I just take the dimes and nickels and go to a pop machine, put the coins in and then use the coin return to get quarters.
Then I have coins for parking.

As for the penny's, just roll them up and take them to the bank.

you have to roll it first before they will take it.

After you roll it, they'll want you to sort them in groups of 5 or whatever and rubber band it. They'll provide it if you don't have rubber bands.

Just a heads up, Paisano's doesn't accept change if you want to buy their pizza or calzone.

Joking aside, I heard casinos as well but I don't know how it works.

Manic! 12-25-2012 08:48 PM

they take 10% but my time is worth more then that sitting around rolling tons of cash for hrs

shenmecar 12-25-2012 09:26 PM

i have a habit of throwing spare change into a jar too. last time i wanted to cash it in, i rolled up my change and took it to a bank. it was the heaviest $600 i ever had to carry.

All Safeway's use the Coinstar machines, if you redeem for an eCertificate instead of cash I heard you aren't charged a fee.

TouringTeg 12-25-2012 09:40 PM

BMO. You dont need to be a customer either.

Safeways machines are easy to use.
you get a receipt and you get the money at customer service

kunoman1 12-25-2012 09:54 PM

give it to homeless people/people on the side of the road with cups

but yea banks and maybe a place like Money mart will do it (although they may charge you)

Gnomes 12-26-2012 05:06 AM

Use one of those self-served cashier machine. Pop coins in. May take a bit of time but it counts them for you for no fee and no hassle of rolling them up.

daica-viet 12-26-2012 09:49 AM

CIBC also takes them in without having an account, just gotta be rolled. also helps when the rolls are put into groups of ten. they'll give out the paper rolls when you ask them for it, but they won't roll it for you
