Spott did not utilize his players well through this whole tournament. Guys like Rielly were statistically good but barely saw any ice time.

Leave it to IIHF officials to call every slash and hook but miss a defenseman intentionally push net off the moorings

Officiating wasn't great throughout the tournament but it wouldn't have made much difference here. USA was great, controlled the game, and Gibson stood on his head when they needed him the most.

No doubt Gibson stood on his head. I agree Spott didn't use his players well. Canada got out played every end of the rink

fucking gibson, not like he had to steal the game or anything but he was solid.

anyone watching Sweden vs Russia, I want to see Sweden take this one too bad Ottawa didn't let Zibanejed play again

being a NYR fan as much as it hurt to see Canada lose I was happy to see JT Miller picked up his game the last two games

EDIT: Sweden is off to a awesome start, and pulled it off I would love to see Sweden repeat

At least we are playing Russia for the Brozne game. Would be nice taking away their only chance for a medal when they are hosting it.

Steve Spott is literally the worst coach I've ever seen behind the Team Canada bench.
1) Publicly choosing a no. 1 goaltender for a 2-wk tourney. Binnington deserved a chance.
2) Putting Murphy on the team and letting him play top 4 minutes despite his terrible play, clearly because Murphy is the captain of Spott's Kitchener Rangers.
3) Not being able to adapt when he is being badly outcoached.
4) Can't get his team to buy into his system.
5) Because he doesn't have a system.
6) Can't get his team to play disciplined hockey.
7) Can't get his team to settle down when rattled.
8 ) Can't inspire his team to get going.
9) I get a general sense that he has no idea wtf he is doing.

Shoulda called an early timeout to settle the boys down after the 2nd goal in the first. regardless, Subban cant be blamed when the team is letting the americans have all those great shots at the net.

The truth is, as said by Bob Mckenzie... The US Hockey Program is coming up STRONG. Whether we like it or not... two years of near dominance at the WJHC. After the excellent play by the Americans from the Olympics, the next step was UP.

Canada was "suppose" to be awesome, but the Americans iced 3 returns..and John Gibson was a fucking wall again this year.

If he can continue his steller play in the JRs and lead into the NHL, the Americans look pretty fucking good for the next 10 years between the pipes

wherever the blame goes, and it shouldnt goto subban, canada played absolutely terrible in the first. completely disorganized, out of position, chasing pucks, and every pass was 100mph 10 feet ahead or behind.

just look at the first goal, it looked like a 5 on 3 power play except they had 4 guys standing within 5 feet in front of the net with 3 americans wide open outside. what happened to playing your man?

I agree Spott was terrible as a coach. At least play Binnington at least once in the tournament, the choice to ride Subban was terrible. Even with the layoff, Binnington played lights out. He was making the big saves Subban couldn't in this game.

The Canadians need to get Dale Hunter to coach this squad next year.
