Lots of smug people here with "I'll get a lawyer!"
guess lawyers work for $10 a hour or $20 to draft a legal letter.

some people just wanna get their way

The person who I talked to is a lawyer who supposedly can get returns on anything and goes out of the way to get even a dollar back... Too much hassle for me. Anyways, my gf just told me if I can't get rid of it she would accept it as a valentines gift later this year. (Otherwise I would have just sold online for half price) So problem solved. I just don't want to think about it anymore.

Thanks for the responses, everyone. I hate shopping. I hate returning items. I am a guy, I just want to go into a store get what I need and get out.

In conclusion, I will not buy directly from Swarovsky anymore. If I do want anything from that brand I will simply go to the magical land of Costco where anything can be returned.

EDIT: Also forgot to mention that I did try a few other locations and the managers over there seemed to be a lot nicer and helpful than the one at the Metrotown location, but couldn't because I could only do so at the Metrotown location. Otherwise it would have showed up at their headquarters.

I think it was already nice of them to allow you to exchange the earrings for something else in the store. They could have said no right then and there.

Your girlfriend seems pretty awesome man. She works with Harvey Spectre AND she' willing to take a gift that you bought for your GRANDMA for Valentines Day! Good on her.

Curious, is there ANY policy listed on the receipt? Front or back? I can't recall the last time I bought something of decent value that didn't have a policy on the receipt...

EDIT: So I've confirmed that the Richmond store does indeed honour a 2 week return policy for merchandise other than earrings for obvious reasons. If you're wanting to do an exchange only, you can have up to 3 weeks to do so. You're passed your 2 week return policy, hence no return and therefore Swarovski Richmond has done nothing to you, has honoured their return policy, and you have absolutely no legal recourse (neither does your special lawyer friend.)

It's important that before we bash a store or business (which I have no affiliation with) for stealing from you, deceiving you, cheating you, that they indeed have done so. You were given preferential treatment but instead you decide to complain and whine about a situation that occurred because you failed to understand their return policy.
