How do I replace hvac unit button lights? Accord 7th gen

Does anyone know how to replace steering wheel lights , hvac unit lights ? It seems the lights gone out. In pretty sure there used to be lights on my steering wheel. Can anyone confirm for 2005 accord v6 coupe? Thanks

If you mean the lights on the Audio/Cruise buttons on each side of the wheel, you can't. They are proprietary SMD LED bulbs that are soldered onto a circuit. I know because I took them apart. You'd have to buy the entire assembly from Honda.

HVAC unit, you mean the light behind your temperature knob, etc?

inv4zn 01-04-2013 03:43 PM

Oh, wait, the 05 may not have lights on the wheel.

I know the 06 and 07's do. Not sure about the 05.

Yes I meant my scan, sound button does not illuminate anymore, neither does the numbers for my cd. I don't remember if my steering controls had lights but I am sure they did since it was easier for me to locate before. I'm also trying to replace the lights for my tcs button and moonroof. Can't find the procedures anywhere.

I just replaced the lights for the shift stick area but haven't figured out how to replace the seat heater buttons

The TCS, Moonroof, and seat heater buttons all use the same bulb. It's a very small bulb.

If you go to Honda, they will charge you $14 or something per bulb.

You can buy the same bulbs at radioshack (source), 2 for $5...they're super easy to replace. I can help you out in a lot more detail...PM me.

And I researched, apparently 7th gen accords never had lit steering wheel controls. Only 7.5 gen.

so the screen on the radio/hvac illuminates ok, and its the buttons around the screen that are out?

Yeah the screen is fine and all the heat buttons are fine except the numbers 1-6 for CD player and the scan/sound buttons. Basically all the buttons related to the CD player and radios are out. Anyway I can open them up and replace whatever is inside?

I bought these for my car from DX. I'm going to do them all as half of them are burnt out.

whats your guys gas mileage for your accord v6s? it seems mine is really bad now in winter. I put in 40 bucks last night when light came on, the needle went up 3 quarters, i drove about 18kms and the needle moved about a bar or two...

!Aznboi128 01-05-2013 10:03 PM

a full tank gives me 400in the city i got the v6 6 speed

Do you know how to read the trip A and trip B? Are those in km or miles? Is your gas mileage considered good? I dunno the best way to read fuel consumption

trip a and trip b just counts the mileages its in km if your car is canadian and miles if its us.

best way you can get an scan gauge or an app lol

Last time I got ~400km on ~52L.

Been pretty consistent. In the summer I got ~440, on summer tires.

let me know how many kms you guys get with half a tank. im not even sure i can reach 400kms with a full tank...will changing spark plugs, installing air intake help out? i ripped out the resonator connecting to the oem intake haha.

inv4zn 01-06-2013 12:09 AM

You can't get fuel economy with "half a tank".

Fill up your tank to first click, reset odometer, drive around, fill it up again.

Note number of L you put in your second fillup, note number of KM on odometer. Report back.

What is your car's mileage at?

SupraTTturbo2jz 01-06-2013 12:25 AM

okay so my kms are at 204620 today. . i mostly drive hwy and weekends a little bit of city driving. I'll try some fuel cleaner and do a oil change before i track this. I have v6 auto 04

inv4zn 01-06-2013 12:27 AM

If you're not sure of when your plugs were changed last, you can probably change them out. Not sure what the official Honda recommendation is.

Replace your air filter, check tire pressure, and then use the method I described above to get a scientific measure of your fuel consumption.

If you drive highways mostly your mileage should be much better than ours.

SupraTTturbo2jz 01-06-2013 12:34 AM

Is it easy to replace them myself? I got the vehicle second hand in 2008 so I don't think the origin owner ever got them changed.
So fill up my tank, note litres, reset odometer and note the Km when light comes on again?

i get 400km on a full tank on my 07 v6 sedan, pretty much just city driving. it's like clockwork. surprised at how consistent all 3 of us are. i would have thought the 6speed would get a bit better mileage.

my 04 coupe 4banger gets 420km from a full tank.

inv4zn 01-09-2013 05:31 PM

Mine's dropped by 20~30 km recently...not sure if because of new winter tires, or if I've just unconsciously gotten a heavier foot.

What's your mileage at? Any big maintenace items you've encountered?

This is now officially the 7th gen Accord thread :P

i get 350km on my 7thgen 4banger :(

if im more careful I can get more then 400 in the city, my driving is daily from Metrotown to joyce and it's all stop and go on kingsway

GLOW 01-10-2013 12:37 PM

i'm from kingsway/joyce to richmond by steveston. not highway driving but def not stop n go like you (except knight street in the evening). my mileage is always pretty consistent on both cars. it improves just a bit if i do some highway driving (taking the 99).

i hate kingsway in that area !aznboi128. if i can i take 49th or vanness
