What are peoples take on the Xi3 computer/console that's being backed by Valve? I don't play PC games but it seems like a decent option for those who are open to it but want to play it like their PS3 or XBox

Hands-on with Xi3's 'Piston' modular PC at CES

That is not true, Blu-Ray is capable of supporting 4K. You will need new Blu-Ray players that will decode/read the higher bit-rate files. Blu-Ray can achieve 4K file sizes easily. The amount of layers you can produce on a Blu-Ray disc far surpasses any other disc medium on the market.

4k will help with 3D

and 4k blu-rays will be coming out this year

and there are 4k youtube films already

and blu-ray players with 4k scaling

but it doesnt matter unless you can afford a 4k tv anyhow :)

The Xperia Z looks pretty nice, but I'm sure the battery life won't be that great like previous generations. And it has waterproof functions too! Hey, guess we're catching up to Japanese smartphones.

From my understanding current Blu-ray players will not be able to play or output 4k.

Sony is releasing some of their Sony Pictures/Columbia films in 4K...I think they said there's like 20+ titles now that will come with the TV.

That Samsung TV :fuckthatshit: http://images.rentabilities.com/1306908351.jpg

I look forward to when glasses-free 3D 4K TVs become affordable...hopefully the PS4 supports true 4K on BDXL 125GB

I think that stand is just for demo/temp purposes. Sony TV's and projectors that are 4k come with a loaned media server. PS4 will defiantly be 4k but who knows what type of media it would use. I don't think it will be called Blu-ray. Red the makers of red cinema camera's used in TLOTR and other movies has a media player that you can pre order right now for around $1000. A company related to red called Odemax? will be starting a 4k download rental service to go with the player. Red is also releasing a 4k laser projector that should be out in the summer for a price of $10k.

That is correct. That is why I said you need new Blu-Ray players that will decode and/or upscale the content that you provide. In reality, most "4K" Blu-Rays we buy will just be higher bit-rate versions with probably a newer codec and compression format. In the end, you'll still need a "Ultra HD/4K" TV to play/upscale media.

Apparently that samsung 84" TV WILL be utilizing that stand. They call it some BS art gallery inspired stand. LOL

Anyone wanna guess the specs of the Steam Xi3 Piston' modular PC at CES.

I'm guessing AMD A10 APU and 8 gigs of ram.

Manic! 01-09-2013 10:20 AM

Look what Microsoft and Samsung are coming out with for the Xbox.

love its form 4" form factor...it's gonna be north of $500 i bet and thus missing quite a bit of its target audience
