CES 2013 thought I start a thread for those following CES Nvidia trying to push cloud computing with a new overambitious android handheld console -tegra 4 - 5" 720p touch display - "base-reflex" audio - xbox-like controller - 4K video output via HDMI - 5-10 hours of gaming...24 hours of video - stream PC/Steam games to display or TV ugly and probably gonna be priced over $350 Portable Handheld PC Gaming | NVIDIA Project Shield Nvidia Grid (cloud gaming server) Cloud Gaming Systems | NVIDIA GRID Technology Overview | NVIDIA |
Yeah not interested in Shield. Ugly, don't care about cloud, don't care about 4K (the demo was done in 720p btw) I do like the real time HDR though |
I wonder if there is a big difference between ultra hdtv and hdtv from a couch |
If the screen is bigger than 42" or so and you're close enough, for sure |
i applaud them for being the first big company to try cloud gaming...Sony will soon follow with the Gaikai acquisition but I personally never had the need for a mobile device to specifically game on the go...so even if I like the idea of continuing a game exactly where you left off on PC...I'll never buy one unless it's on clearance sale. I also dunno how latency will perform even if you have the best LTE connection Quote:

Cool but useless. |
Hopefully there's info on the rumoured $99 Nexus 7 tablet... Actually more interested in a cheaper 10" nexus tablet but doubtful that will happen. |
the new Sony 4K TV's look so damn sexy and Dat 4K OLED!!!! |
with no 4k source yet...meh....they just need to stop the prices of lcd/led/plasma from going down |
I nearly puked when I saw the 6.1 Huawei phone Jesus... |

And it's a real product, not a freakshow 84" TV nobody will ever be able to get |

Oh and also did not like samsung's 4k tv. Looks like its on an easel http://img.gawkerassets.com/img/18as...jpg/xlarge.jpg |
Isn't there a viewing limit on the benefits of 4K over 1080p? Like...you can't tell the difference unless the distance is far enough and you have good enough eyesight. |
For 4K you can actually sit closer to the TV and the picture quality will still be crisp and sharp. |
Some sick tv's but doesn't mean much to anybody until the prices can come down well south of 10 grand. Posted via RS Mobile |
I think using a 4k monitor that's about 46 inches in size and is 1.5-2 feet from you will be reasonable. Assuming that most people find 23 inch 1080p monitors are good enough. I'll have to admit that playing SC2 on a 28 inch 1920x1200 monitor is tough because it's easy to lose the orientation of the map due to the monitor being so big. But for movies, that'd be crazy, it'd be like a wall of video.... Imagine that with well done 3D... one step closer to holodeck. haha. |
Ye I can't game if the tv is bigger than a 50~inch (far or close). Hell I don't think an 80 inch TV will even fit in my living room (or even most peoples), but then again considering its price point; people with small houses most likely won't be able to afford it lol |

The new flagship Sony android phone is pretty sick too. Sony Xperia Z smartphone has an impressive camera, can survive a dip in the bath | PCWorld |
This just reminds me of DVD transforming to HD. Sony is giving away 10 4k movies in a HDD player when purchase with Sony XBR-84X900. Myself has got some 4K video samples. I have tried to play them on Dell U2711 at 2560 x 1440 is already stunning. The Amazing Spider man 4K file is 56.6gb, I guess its time to get more HDD. XD |
The new 4K Blu-Rays are just Higher Bit-Rate copies. |
