What is this? UFO?

Before I get failed,

Took this photo today at Steveston. If you look above the sun, to the left, you can see a white streak.

Shutter speed was 1/1000. Geographically, was facing west (sunset, duh).

What is it?? Do jets fly that fast that low?

It's most likely an identified object, like a jet-plane

Below the white streak, not sure if bird or dust.

Considering there's a major international airport not that far away... yes, a jet could be fairly low. And what you see as its "height" is relative to perspective and distance; it could be a lot higher altitude than it looks.

I think it's a UFO.. all the indicators point to that conclusion (ie. the still water, the sunset, the great scenery).

I think you should send this to the higher-ups.

But yeah, great picture

Yes.

and

Yes.

The best indicators right now for extra-terrestrial craft based on conventional suspected UFO characteristics would be 2 things.
- Lack of smoke/contrails
- Non-newtonian movement.

As in the craft has the ability to bypass/ignore inertia.
- Right-angled turns
- hovering
- rapid acceleration/deceleration over 20-Gs.

Anything else, including tight formation flying is within the realm of human tech right now.

In hindsight this could have gone to photo-off topic...haha.

Considering shutter speed and approximate distance, it was travelling very very fast...pretty sure it's not a commercial jetliner. Dunno if military.

But thanks for the pretty funny replies lol

Just to be clear: we ARE all talking about this, right?

If so... yes, that's a contrail, not the actual plane. The plane is a very tiny spec at the left end of that. Even zoomed in full, you can't see the plane itself:

However, if you scroll horizontally, the contrail does actually stretch all the way across the frame and past the right side, it's just dissipating as you get further back:

Given how small this looks in the overall frame, that jet would probably be several dozen miles away, and probably at full cruising altitude.
