That's outright disgusting. I don't care if the economy is thriving there and China is the future and blah blah blah all that stuff.

If I can't even walk outside and breathe without burning my face or lungs without wearing a heavy duty industrial face mask, I'd rather stay the fuck away.

And the economy isn't really thriving anymore. On the surface, it still is. But dig a tiny bit deeper and you'll see local governments on the brink of bankruptcy, factories suffering due to high labour costs and a much slower inflow of invoices, and surging inflation on daily necessities, among others.

The new leader, Xi Jinping, appears to be taking measures against corruption, and that is certainly a good thing. But the inevitable side effect is, this is scaring the shxt out of corrupt officials, so they are accelerating the channelling of their funds out of the country and draining the economy even more from the inside.

Inb4 more of a reason for more immigrants from China to Vancouver :troll:

Okay, this may not be a bad thing depending who is coming to Vancouver.
Assuming they are actually getting a job, have good ethics, not committing crime, pay tax and be a good citizen, I think it might be better for the earth.

Here in Canada we actually have the law that people actually have to follow.
Things are way more well organized in Canada.
We don't dump shit in ocean like China do, that's illegal in BC. We don't drive around high emission vehicles, we have air care and we do not manufacture products by overly polluting air. Thanks to BC Hydro we're powered by hydro energy.

Of course you have to consider the soaring of housing prices, population overload, etc.

They go for 5 yuan each and, according to one report, they come with atmospheric flavours including “pristine Tibet, post-industrial Taiwan and revolutionary Yan'an.” Presumably the “pristine Tibet” can smells ever so slightly of gunpowder.
