| 55" LED HDTV SamsungŪ UN55EH6000 55-in. 1080p LED HDTV**
Any suggestions on a 55" or 50"+ HDTV that is better than this Samsung one (in terms of price/value)? Looking to spend about $1000-$1300.
I tried the Smart TV interface and it's very slow...
I will only be using it for sports and TV shows. No gaming.
Thanks!

I have a 42" HAIER TV I got from Visions for $350 on sale. It really is a nice set - outstanding deal for the price.
Looking at Visions website, they have a 55" Hitachi LED marked down from $1400 to $900... 55" Toshiba on sale down from $1800 to $1000... 60" Sharp Aquos down from $1350 to $1000... etc. 55 - 64" Televisions | Visions Electronics

Thanks! | 2x HDMI??? what is this 2006????
If you were gonna get the 3D stuff, at least get one with passive glasses. The 3D on the newer gen LG and Samsung are really amazing!

Thanks! | Skip the 6000 model, it is really significantly inferior. You can get a 6100 for around $1249 and it's a lot better TV and also looks much better - it is much slimmer and has the smaller bezel, etc.

If you are watching fast paced movies, sports and evening gaming then PLASMA is the way to go. Newer gen plasma are thin, energy star rated, no burn in (unless playing some RPG all day)... They produce way better colours and blacks than LED TVs and cost less. LED TVs try to achieve the look and performance of Plasma and they come close but never 100%. Don't fall into the whole 240hz hype with LED, it looks unnatural to the human eye and you end of turning it off anyways. Plasmas dont have problems with ghosting and dont require 240hz soap opera effect features.
I recommend Panasonic Plasmas, don't go for anything less than the ST series, GT is better, VT is the best. These "neo-plasmas" have louvre filters on the glass, provides anti-glare, much reduced reflections and deeper blacks and richer colours. Deals on the 50 series models (2012) are just starting, keep checking every week because once prices dip they will go fast. Between Feb to Apr you will see all of the 2012 models go on sale and then clearance. I have been able to score 50% off TVs in the past around April-May, one was brand new in the box, the other was a demo model with a few months of floor use.
IMHO most smart tv interfaces blow... I own a smart tv and never use the feature, better off adding an Apple TV or another set top box for smart features.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I looked at the plasma TVs. While the price is much lower and the picture quality is pretty good.. they are heavy compared to LEDs.
I forked out extra $300 and ended up with the UN55ES6100. It looks (cosmetically, not picture quality) better and much lighter.
Hopefully it's a good set that will last me 5+ years.
