This movie is going to do well.

DanHibiki 05-20-2014 10:30 AM

ooga chaka

Wongtouski 05-20-2014 05:46 PM

Very excited for this mainly because I have NO IDEA what this comic series is about, so I don't have to sit through the movie thinking "Oh this is gonna happen next"....also the characters are kooky as hell, looks damn fun

sonick 05-23-2014 03:10 PM

Edgar Wright drops out of Ant-Man. A big blow, his style was perfect for the movie.

StylinRed 05-29-2014 05:31 PM

just heard about that too can't believe it -_- Marvel micro manages waaaaay too much hopefully the film still ends up alright with just a 1 year to release...

Lomac 06-12-2014 10:30 PM

Fan made trailer, but if this was real, I would watch the crap out of it.

StylinRed 06-12-2014 10:37 PM

DC announced their cinematic universe today too

they're planning on 7 films over the next few years

Quote:

May 2016 – Batman v Superman
July 2016 – Shazam
Xmas 2016 – Sandman
May 2017 – Justice League
July 2017 – Wonder Woman
Xmas 2017 – Flash and Green Lantern team-up
May 2018 – Man Of Steel 2

SkinnyPupp 06-12-2014 10:57 PM

Shazam :lawl:

I remember seeing that show growing up. Don't remember anything about it though, I think it was a comedy. Is he their goofball character?

StylinRed 06-12-2014 11:11 PM

lol shazam aka Captain Marvel (he used to shout shazam to get his powers)

he's the Magical powered Superman basically ;)

in the new incarnation they changed his backstory a little bit and he's called Shazam instead

He's a kid that gets chosen to take over ownership of magic or something or other (power of the greek gods)

and his arch enemy is the original shazam turned evil called Black Adam

I guess he's like DCs version of Thor (or thor is marvels version of shazam since shazam came out in the 30s and thor in the 60s)

SkinnyPupp 06-12-2014 11:19 PM

So DC has a guy called Captain Marvel, who Marvel copied calling him Thor

DanHibiki 06-12-2014 11:21 PM

I wish they would make a Green Lantern Corp. movie and have it soley take place in space.

lol yeah its a bit of an odd situation but the wiki explains it

Quote:

Fawcett ceased publishing Captain Marvel-related comics in 1953, partly because of a copyright infringement suit from DC Comics, alleging that Captain Marvel was a copy of Superman. In 1972, DC licensed the Marvel Family characters and returned them to publication, acquiring all rights to the characters by 1991. DC has since integrated Captain Marvel and the Marvel Family into their DC Universe, and have attempted to revive the property several times with mixed success.

Because Marvel Comics trademarked their Captain Marvel comic book during the interim between the original Captain Marvel's Fawcett years and DC years, DC has used the trademark Shazam! to promote the property since 1972, instead of the name "Captain Marvel". Consequently, Captain Marvel himself has often been referred to as "Shazam", leading DC to rename the character during their New 52 relaunch in 2012.[4]

as for Thor and Shazam

'billy batson' would yell out "shazaaaam!" and lightning would strike him and he'd become Shazam (cpt marvel) the being with powers of the greek gods

Thor is a doctor with a magic stick and when he smacks it on the ground he becomes thor ;)

they both have a powerful old man that's their superior that doesn't do much

To make things even more confusing, there is a Captain Marvel (Captain Marvell) in the marvel universe as well.

DanHibiki 06-13-2014 12:05 AM

I thought Thor didn't turn into Thor by using a stick but he used a human host body as disguise.

Marvel won the rights to using the name and so DC changed their Captain Marvel name to Shazam.

Don't really know about Thor but I know when he switches back to thor he uses the stick (which is mjolnir iirc) never read thor really

DanHibiki 06-13-2014 01:39 AM

I have a feeling that dc movie list is fake. We'll see at comic con I guess

rsx 06-13-2014 04:28 AM

Why wouldn't Jean Jones, Martian Manhunter not get his own standalone?? Come on!

Ulic Qel-Droma 06-13-2014 12:44 PM

The new ones do suck. Only thing keeping me interested on it is the prospect of a larger spidey universe coming our way....even still I'm not as interested in solo only heroes and he just needs to be in the avengers already. Come on sony/marvel!

RFlush 06-13-2014 05:33 PM

Fox, Sony, and Marvel combine for a Marvel Civil War 3 part movie. Now that would be epic

Expresso 08-04-2014 09:26 PM

How close does Guardians movie follow the comics?
