Pandemic, anyone? Logic says that if it starts in Madagascar, it'll get the entire planet :derp:.

on a lighter, unrelated note (Mostly because its not about an African bob-sled team)

but in either case, one of the best movies of all time

A friend of mine was getting her chef certification and she needed to go to the TB clinic in New West. Apparently for the hours that they are open if she didn't show up X number of hours in advance she wasn't going to get seen that day.

After showing up very early she recalled having to stand near some coughing people while waiting in line. When she got her results, which were negative, she worried she'd have to go back in case she was exposed and it didn't have time to populate.

Turns out it was negative the second time through too.

Moral of the story?

Cover yo damn mouf when you cough.

The continent of Africa has been the whipping boy of history ever since the europeans thought to "colonize" and "save the savages".

Every major power had claimed their respective parts of the pie. In fact, by and large, those lines are what form the various countries today. It's not completely based on ethnic similarities, or geographic isolation, but on 100+ year old meetings in Europe where lines were traded to keep everyone happy.

And this system was intact until WW2, when it became unsustainable. The countries were spun off to become independant. Some initially through violence, some through the colonizing power not interested in fighting to keep them.

Unfortunately, most freedom fighters in the region weren't interested in finally handing the country over to its people, they sought to replace the colonial system where they became the head.

So fast forward today, you are still playing out the same issues from 100 years before. You keep a population in fear, and uneducated and you get: Congo/Zaire.

Is it the population's fault that they don't ask for better? Sure. I do think they own some of it. But, on the other side-do they know what to make after a possible long, and difficult civil war, which is what it would take to truly reshape a lot of African countries? And for a lot, it would be truly ugly. Somalia x 15. Plus, you have outside influence still. Al Qaeda is setting up shop in Mali. Well, why would they choose that? Without getting too deep, its money, power and availability. They aren't going to set up in a country where they are unwanted by someone, and even if they aren't, they'll convert enough people to the cause that there is one nation currently that is the cause of all your problems: The US. Join up. Not hard to bring an impoverished nation to your side.

There are so many people that claim that a population that has been beaten down should be back standing again, and its just not the case.

I find it offensive that punchline after punchline are told here saying to "nuke them" and the KKK was a great development out of Africa(like, read your fucking history). Go back far enough, and if you follow and believe the theories, we ALL came out of Africa.

There are some truly ignorant people on the forum. That place is someone's home, and I guarantee you, they feel as passionately about it as you do about yours.

Wow I know that tb clinics are separate so that is somewhat quarantined but wouldn't it make sense to give ppl time slots to prevent infection..? That's some scary stuff.

Yeah, I was looking all over for a decent snowboarding mask and a few forums/members recommended this one since it has those ear straps.

They even sent me an extra red one. It wasn't the same red one as their online one, a completely different one. So I actually got two masks for $20.

Hopefully, you get the same awesome deal and it wasn't just a mistake.

t4rawr gave me tips on surviving the TB onslaught. The guy is a wealth of information.

I promise to remember y'all fondly after I'm done looting your belongings when you succumb to this terrifying sickness.

Just received mine today and yup I got the second ref one as well. For the $20 talk about a good deal and these masks are legit. I'm pretty happy with them thanks for posting it up.
