My bank account is $0 but if your life is full of joy and experiences, you're already rich | As a parent you can't or at least you shouldn't be living like that. Parenting means putting your social life and spare time on hold and devoting the majority of it your kids. The older they get the more of your time you reclaim but at the end of the day at least in my experience you're putting their needs ahead of yours which means planning for tomorrow and the week after next.
This is all my opinion there is no manual or rule book.
