FS: 1990 mazda miata

very reluctantly, and with a very heavy heart, im putting up my miata up for sale. due to a change of residence and lifestyle, i have decided i need to be more of an adult with my money. i have spent far too much on this car, and need to take a break from the scene and pay off some credit card debts and get back into shape.

i bought this car from the original owner. he lived in the southern united states, and then got a job with his church up here a few years ago. he purchased the car brand new (i have all the sales receipts and window stickers). every single modification has been purchased and installed by me. i do all my own work and take pride and passion for turning a wrench. this car is absolutely rust free

i have kept almost every single stock piece, and they will all be included in the sale (listed below somewhere)

the mod list to this car is very long. i will post up links at the bottom of the page to links of some of the items below. lots and lots of money has been sunk into this car. do not let its rough exterior fool you.

1990 mazda miata, 5 speed, manual everything, originally white. roughly 88,000 miles (i'll double check next time im down at the car)

lets start with the bad
- had the very typical 1990 white flaking paint (google it, very common problem) and when i installed the old fender flares, i had a very large section flake off. so i sprayed it a robins egg blue (was done myself, but with real automotive paint. body was taken down to bare metal) i believe the term is "good from far, far from good" its a 5 foot car for sure, but depending on what your goals are with the car, may have to be addressed
- interior is half-stripped. i have all the oem pieces to bring it back to stock.
- some of the trim could be popped off and sprayed with an SEM trim black to help clean it up a bit.

mod list / things worth mentioning
- wizdom front bumper
- rspeed side splitters
- cutout rear bumper
- rear rx7 diffuser (not installed)
- dmax hood vent
- tuckin'99 fender flares

just to put things into perspective, the cost of just the big brake kit, flares, headers and wing adds up to about $4500

list of stock parts
- drivers seat

- etc etc etc, lots of boxes of things

i'll just start posting some more pictures i guess.

here is the car in its current state, pictures were taken monday

the wheels that are pictured in the rear are bbs rs, 15x10.5 -19. im still waiting on two more lips from germany before i can mount the front ones, but the setup will be square. i do NOT intend to sell them with the car. it can be negotiated in to the price if you are willing to pay more. alot more.

i am mostly looking to sell this car. i am possibly open to trades plus cash. that does not mean i want your stock rusted out civic hatch or your super awesome pontiac sunfire.

$9,500 obo. just keep in mind i do not HAVE to sell. i would gladly keep this car and just eat ramen noodle for the next year. but you know how it goes.

so i've had a handful of PM's inquiring about the car. each one had a similar vibe to it. they all want to pay around $6000, and are okay with parts being removed, as long as the exterior stays similar. i will address this lower down after Q&A

1. what is the condition of the motor?
as far as the engine is concerned, its just running the standard intake/header/exhaust. i love the look and feel of a track ready car, but in all honesty i am NOT a fast driver. my bulk of complaints in the shitty/dangerous driver thread is people swerving and passing me dangerously while i go 55km/h... the engine is extremely healthy, and does not leak oil. uses about half a litre between oil changes, which is standard for a 23 year old car. it has never broken down or left me stranded. has new plugs and leads. power mods WERE next on my list (hense the expensive header) but it seems time has run out for me.

2. what is the condition of the tires?
the azenis are in fantastic shape. i only put about 2k miles on the car since putting the azenis on.

3. have you ever tracked or drifted the car?
no and no. when i first bought a miata i had very large intentions of auto crossing it. but i ended up spending more time under the car then in it. the car has never been drifted either. not sure how well it would do with semi-stock power.

4. does the soft top leak?
no. like i said in the ad, i replaced it in the fall with a brand new plastic window top. it has only been out in the weather a handful of times since.

5. is there any way you can lower the price?
lets go down the list. if i.....
- remove the exhaust and install the oem exhaust
- remove the carbon side mirrors and replace with oem
- remove the carbon wing
- keep the maxim works header
- remove the momo seat and replace with oem
- remove the hub/quick release/wheel and replace with stock
- remove the momo seat and replace with stock

that will bring the price down to $7000 firm. keep in mind ALL the other oem parts i have will still be included. that is firm firm, non negotiable. lots of the parts like the big brake kit and the suspension cannot be changed back to stock. also, it will be up to the new owner to put the interior back in if he/she chooses. everything is included to go back to stock.

pics to be up shortly. construction near my place got the car covered in mud when i drove by today. gotta give the ol' girl a wash.

dirty before wash

after a quick hose off and wipe down

quick rev. engine was nice and warm but exhaust cooled off a little from sitting being washed. first rev to 2800, second rev to 5500rpm. redline is 6700. its very smooth and quick.
