Where do you work and how much do you get paid?

Didn't see a thread like this so I thought it'd be fun to share with each other :woot2:

I work at a credit union and get paid about $16.50 an hour

nabs 02-24-2013 11:04 PM

Never ask a man's wage, Never ask a woman's age!

That's what my dad taught me when I was very young, lol.

Jgresch 02-24-2013 11:13 PM

because a lot of people judge each other based on how much money they earn

You don't get paid enough, is that what you mean Nabs? :fullofwin:

Iceman-19 02-25-2013 09:12 AM

Just under 45/hr. For a major construction company.

kakucaekz 02-25-2013 09:44 AM

I've had one job since I was 16, same job I have now, lol.

Lifeguard and aquatic instructor for City of Vancouver, right now it's ~$22.50 an hour, part time. Too bad I only get like, 20-25 hours a week :okay:

Neva 02-25-2013 12:14 PM

Hustlin' phones for Koodo (aka Telus) making 10.45 plus avg commission of 400/month. So ~$13/hr. ok job for supplementing school I guess.

stewie 02-25-2013 02:30 PM

city of burnaby - waterworks

25$ give or take half a buck depending on what im doing that day.

GabAlmighty 02-25-2013 02:33 PM

Lifeguard for City of Coquitlam (Aquatic Leader 1). Little bit more than Kakucaekz.

And Ocdt for the Forces. You can look that one up on Forces.ca and subsequently find out what i'll be making for the next 10 years!

Not enough

hi-revs 02-25-2013 03:12 PM

Having the skills set to save is much more important than how much you make.

Truth. If this thread keeps going it'll be kind of nice to see what jobs make what. Something to keep in mind next time your haggling with wages/salary in a interview.

Alby 02-25-2013 08:03 PM

work with coast mountain bus. i make just over $21/hr.

quasi 02-25-2013 09:33 PM

I'm an estimator and project manager for a large construction company and I don't get paid enough. On the other hand I am happy to have a job that pays the bills and the company is pretty decent so overall I'm not going to complain.

job: driver
type: 18 wheeler
qualifications: class 1/air brakes cert.
earnings: 4-4.5k monthly after taxes
daily duty: i work 12 hours most days but i sit in my rig for about 5-6 hours waiting to get loaded or unloaded so the job is not hard and its perfect for me.
history of employment: i started out when i was 17 years old delivered pizza for panago, 20ish worked for a same day courier using my own car, then worked for FEDex as a driver, then now i drive a company truck and i haul trailers.

i never saw myself sitting in an office or a 9 to 5 job, my job now allows me to be on the road/outside meeting different people and i love driving.

its not for everyone as it takes skills to maneuver a big rig around town. most company will not hire a person without experiences they want a proven track record + a very clean drivers record.

pinn3r 02-25-2013 11:20 PM

Milestones Crossroads as a line cook lol
garbage pay (maybe 'cause i'm a student) of 10.25 + tips (avg. $2/hr +/- 50 cents) so about $12 to $13/hr
work is laborious and physically demanding... gotta find myself a decent job that pays AT LEAST $13/hr before I get outta high school or I'm not gonna survive

SoNaRWaVe 02-26-2013 09:38 PM

^ my prime rib hash always tastes awesome there. so i tip my hat off for you.

dohboi 02-26-2013 11:56 PM

you would have been better off doing an anomynous poll and if it allowed you to state your job, or something to get a better idea, you probably would have gotten more responses, and possibly some more honest answers
