Shit I thought I was crazy for thinking this back in the day.

For me personally, Husky seems like the best fuel with the least knocking... But if there isn't one around I go to Chevron...because I like blue.

94 Chevron is still better than 91 Chevron. We've confirmed this on the dyno. Some people have said that 91 Shell is better than 94 Chevron. We haven't tested this yet but we will soon. Hopefully R. Mutt can chime in soon and let us know how his datalogs turn out

first time i took the gto down to states and filled up on 92 chev/texaco i FELT the car ran better, but didnt take my datalogger so i thought nothing of it.

second time took my logger.
i was able to run an average of 2deg more timing in my whole band before knock.
filled with 94 again, knock came back and had to back off the timing.
all on 11afr, 17psi.
im convinced.
doesnt really matter now that im running meth inj.

after reading some of the comments here im thinking of trying shells 91. was always put off cause its same price as chev 94 and 3 less octane.

Bonus for Shell 91 is it has no ethanol (not sure about all pumps though.)

Will be trying states gas next time in down there....and after that water/meth

Did you base this on a butt-dyno or actual dyno pulls? It takes a while for your ECU/DME to adjust accordingly to the fuel you are using. One tank full is usually not sufficient, I find.

Definitely in to see RG's results on the dyno...

Chevron 92 all the way back from the states no knock, yesterday I was experiencing knock on Chevron 94...

Going to try Shell 91 probably next...

A little off topic, but any of you use octane boost additive?

Not sure which one of the many brands out there works and if it is feasible, as in cost effective. If 94 is that hard to get, then this may be the route to go?

When towing heavy loads with my truck, I need higher octane gas. I don't tow that often, so not going to keep filling with higher rated gas. It's a lot easier for me to pour in some octane boost when needed, me thinks. Any advice would be welcome.

Most octane boosters don't really work, raise only very little octane and can foul your plugs.

I run methanol injection to deal with our gas issues, however, I use it mostly for cooling and cleaning, perfering not to run an agressive tune.

That is not good news. I haven't actually needed 94 since the fall as the car "hibernates" during the winter.

It's way more than that, but so popular. They can't keep it in stock.

There must be gas stations in the Lower Mainland that still offer 94 octane gas. Need to start list.

Yup...the issue isnt finding 94...the issue is our 94 sucks.

I filled up with a second tank of Shell 91. So far its running the same as always.

I will be tuning it for chevron 94 and running meth

^ Ok, got it now. I recall filling up the truck with 94 before towing a heavy load up to Ashcroft last summer. It was at a Husky gas station, not Chevron.

Try Petrol Canada 94, it is pretty similar to Husky 94

You guys ever stop and think that the reason the 94 you are getting is causing det is because its old and stals? With gas prices so high majority of people use whatever is cheapest. The expensive fuel sits in the holding tanks and condensates.
