Now I'll want it independently inspected, have someone test drive it for me, what do you think I should offer them for it.

dared3vil0 03-16-2013 08:56 PM

Already a pretty damn good price... I'd offer 19,500 out the door and leave with 20,500 otd.

EDIT: Accident? I would pass.
EDIT 2: Twenty grand accident would have me RUNNING for the door.

tofu1413 03-16-2013 10:43 PM

ahh. a front end accident... thats about right. take it to a trusted mechanic to take a look at it. are you dealing with Rob?

Pretty big accident. I would pass unless they lower the price even more.

beproud 03-16-2013 11:52 PM

They are given the BBB therefore I will trust. But I personally wouldn't buy any veh with accidents little or big.

Shorn 03-17-2013 12:26 AM

haha. BBB can't do shit to companies anyway so i don't see why they really hold any weight instead of a nice little logo on the website

anyway higher powered cars are easier to learn to drive standard. it has more power that you don't really need to feather the clutch/add gas as much as a low powered car, it'll just start moving by itself

my friend thought a 335i was so much easier to drive after learning manual on a miata lol

pb.kidz 03-17-2013 02:48 AM

so I should forget about this one eh
car still has warranty from BJ BMW apparently

bcrdukes 03-17-2013 02:56 AM

I'll play Devil's Advocate.

Despite you not knowing how to drive standard and the car has a pretty ugly and costly accident, just #YOLO.

The numbers don't look "bad" - somewhat normal and expected, I would say.

If you want it so bad, get it inspected. But keep in mind that if you buy it, the next person is going to be like :fuckthatshit: and :heckno: once they see the repairs. Otherwise, fuck what Revscene thinks and #YOLO. :fullofwin:

Gazorcoop 03-17-2013 11:25 AM

If you really really like it, then buy it. Think about the pros and cons of upgrading from a 3 series though.

yray 03-17-2013 11:49 AM

it's a bmw, its gonna fall apart eventually... like mines :troll: :ilied:

bcrdukes 03-17-2013 12:21 PM

Yours was broken from the start. :fuckthatshit:

VRYALT3R3D 03-17-2013 12:29 PM

The fact it wasn't stated in the ad that the car was involved in an accident speaks volumes.

I would pass on the car and save up for a clean, no accident one. When it comes down to you selling it down the road, the accident will make it much harder to sell.

El Bastardo 03-17-2013 12:31 PM

BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU RATINGS MEAN NOTHING. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS CONSUMER PROTECTION IN BRITISH COLUMBIA. IT IS UP TO YOU TO DETERMINE IF YOU ARE BEING RIPPED OFF OR NOT. IF YOU GET FOOLED BY SOME USED CAR SALESMAN THERE IS NO LAW TO PROTECT YOU

If a BBB "accredited" business sees their rating suffer as a result of a complaint they can pay a "fee" and get their A+ rating back. A BBB rating is not a good indicator of whether or not a car dealership will treat you fairly and be honest with you. Only word of mouth can do that. You took the right step by asking Revscene about this car and now that you've provided Revscene with information and they've responded, please listen to them. They don't know you well enough to want to lie to you.

I would say the fact that they gave him the entire breakdown of the accident/repair bill speaks greater volumes than not listing it in the ad.

I don't disagree.

You're right. But I'd still pass on the car due to the amount of damages.

I would get a 5 series man for $20,000 I mean if you like Beamers. You can ball it out and bitches will ride your cock.

2006 BMW 550i 550 5 series
2006 BMW 5 Series 530i 85,000 KMs Extra Clean 1 Owner

Not to mention it's auto :troll:

I had a e90 3 series... I don't drive anyone but my self 99% of the time - reason for getting a 1/coupe

tofu1413 03-17-2013 01:52 PM

a good portion of the repair bill is the cost of parts... look at the cost of one headlight unit!

Harvey Specter 03-17-2013 01:58 PM

I would personally stay away from older BMW's especially 5 & 7 series. There's a reason why they're dirt cheap because no one wants to buy them and get stuck with a expensive repair bill when things go haywire.

westopher 03-17-2013 05:11 PM

Call me crazy, but a 135i for under 20k? I don't think I'd give a fuck about the accident provided the car passed a third party inspection from a trustworthy source. I kinda want to see how much I could get for my gti as a trade in.

Not really. "Car has been in a major accident" is not exactly a marketable sales appropach...

Say you save $5-7000 right now due to the accident claim (20-25% savings). When you resell the car, as long as you keep in mind how much less you paid because of the accident and price the car accordingly, there should be no problems. If you try to get clean market value when you sell the car, of course it will be much harder if not impossible.

Looking at the claims sheet, there's nothing that is really concerning assuming everything was repaired properly. The more important part is looking at what the damage was, instead of just freaking out at how much the damage was. I think there's a deal to be had here, if not because of people seeing the high claim amount and writing the car off because of it without further investigation

Fafine 03-18-2013 01:03 PM

if you plan on keeping the car for the next 5-7 years then do it
if you plan on only keeping it for a short amount of time, then there's no resale value when you want to give the car up because most people will look at the accident total price rather than whats fixed, as mentioned in the post above
