Bumping up an old thread cause I want to buy a radar detector. Deciding between the STI Magnum and 9500ix and still can't figure which one to get. From what I gathered, the STI has the best range and detection, but the 9500 has other features like GPS and better false alerts. I drive mostly on highway 91 and in and round richmond and vancouver. Would the features of the 9500 be worth it? Also, with LIDAR being everywhere, what is a good jammer to use and where do you guys get it installed?

You consider the Passport MAX or Redline? NEW ESCORT PASSPORT MAX RELEASED | BPG Autosound
We could get you a deal on any Escort products.
As for the jammers, Laser Interceptor is pretty much one of the best for performance. http://www.bpgautosound.com/uncatego...ears-in-a-row/
There's a few Interceptor installs on our instagram. Need to make sure whoever does install it for has experience with it. If the sensors aren't angled properly your jammers will be useless

bumping an old thread but I just got myself a 9500ix today after using a pos cobra for 5 days (misled by amazon reviews), I knew I needed a better radar detector. I'm wondering if most of you turn the x band off or if anyone has had any encounters with law enforcement officers using x band

I roll with X band off. Usually for highway I turn it back on.
9500IX is a great detector. I would've suggested the Passport Max for just a little bit more money. It is their newest one. Unless you got a killer deal on the 9500ix.
Either way. It'll help you alot. Just remember that these things kind of suck at detecting laser. Odds are if you detect it you're the one getting tagged. So use the detector as a tool to help you prevent tickets and not as a reason to drive irresponsibly.

Thanks for the response. I was originally going to purchase an 8500 x50 black from Amazon for $300 but saw someone selling a used 9500ix for the same money so I went with that instead. Hopefully it was a good deal.
The Max looks awesome but thats kinda out of budget as I only wanted to spend $200-250 for one.

8500 X50 should be like $350ish brand new. $300USD plus shipping/duties/exchange rate would probably work out to be about the same. Just an FYI.
$300 for 9500 is a good price. Just make sure it get serviced/updated every couple years.
