| Apps: revenue generation
Can anyone school me on how to monetize ios/android apps, it'll be provided with a free service.
I've been doing a bunch of reading and it's a bit hazy.
The top ad companies seem to be tapjoy, iad, admob, and inmobi. But are all these based on clicks?
The app isn't a game but an informational tool. Is this feasible?
Thanks so much!

the way i see it, is if its free, you put an ad bar in and it just generates ad. then you can always provide an option to buy the app to get rid of the ad. and that is all i know.
in some games, you can watch ads to provide in-game credit but i don't know how that would apply to an informational tool

Do we get a cut if we help?
Anyways for me if the ad is free I expect to see some ads. Try to provide basic function + ads in the free version and the paid version will have more functions and add free.
Take Juice defender for example, The free version is pretty decent but if people want more customization they paid for the pro version.
There are some apps that I use the free version but it was so good so I paid for the full version.

Tough to say without knowing more about what your App does. For example, people mentioned a premium version. Is your App the type that could easily be made into a Lite or Pro version? Posted via RS Mobile |

I can't say there would be much of a difference between a lite and pro and to be honest. In-app purchases really won't work either. It's a directory pretty much. I'm just looking for metrics and numbers to work it out =(

then offer the app for free with ad bar somewhere showing ads and the option to pay for the app to get rid of it. other than that, i don't know how else you can generate revenue.
