Reputable shop to paint pearl whites? After having my rear bumper repainted 6 times at my current body shop. the out come is still... you be the judge. Can anyone recommend a shop they know that have experience with pearl white colors? Starfire pearl. I know repainting wont color match completely, but not off by this much...........:suspicious: Spoiler! |
I believe jtrinh's IS300 lip required a pearl white paint, he went to Boyd Autobody |
It looks like there is zero pearl in your rear bumper and the white needs a tad of black to darken it up and two more coats of pearl. I would either take it to Auto Mind in Richmond or 2000 Collision in Surrey because I know both painters. |
fastrackautobody on river rd. in RIchmond |

They did a great job for me. Keep in mind pearl white is a somewhat hard colour to match. Also you may see a difference between the plastic bumper vs. the metal body. With that said I agree with duc_evo_sp that there is almost no pearl mixed in with the paint on that bumper, maybe give them a paint code? |
In for results. I need some Starfire Pearl redone on my car. |

GL finding a shop. I'm interested in how it turns out after you get it fixed. May consider that shop if I ever get sides and rear lip. |
Took them 6 times? You would think they would repaint the quarters to match the bumper. Why would you go to another shop? Who's going to reimburse you to get it re done? The original shop should be calling their paint rep manufacture to come color match it for them. |

I went to boyd, but the one on marine drive. The paint match is pretty much flawless on my tornado red gti. I've heard its quite a bitch to match. |
I've always taken my car to Willowbrook Collision in Langley, and the paint has always matched... even GM couldn't match their own silver (sad!), but they were able to. They painted my convertible in Mazda's Velocity Red Mica, and when my wife scrubbed the fender on a concrete post, they were able to match it perfectly a few years later. Can't even tell. |
ill try and visit those shops in the richmond area and talk to them. ill keep you guys updated! |
Twin star collision. |
maybe give OpenRoad Richmond Auto Body a try? they do repair for OpenRoad Lexus |
Just take ur car back to the shop and say ur not happy with the color. Honestly the problem with ur color is the basecoat. Its too white amd no amount of pearl willl help It. Its a typical problem with some pearl whites being too white. Posted via RS Mobile |
So far, the best pearl paint match is AAA auto repair centre in Calgary. They can do a 99% match on Acura MDX pearl white bumper (brand new 2011 mdx doesnt come with matching color, and ask me why i know) and IS350 pearl white. |
Wonder if those shops will do a group paint thing. If we're all painting the same colour, maybe we could save a bit on paint cost? |
pearl white... very hard to match. usually they blend it to the fender/quarter panel or something. I too need to get some body work done my RSX, and it is a pearl white. I have a body guy that I hope he can get it proper on my car when i take it in! |
TMA Autobody on kingsway, my pearl rio s2000 was keyed a few years ago and they are the only shop that are able to match the color perfectly. |
Bump from the dead. Any results from your shopping around Grim? I have pearl white car as well and may want to repaint hood due to rock chips. Wanted to see if you got your bumper redone and was happy with the results. Thanks. |
sorry man. no luck everywhere i go.. the colour is off eventually i just gave zero fucks.. lol |

My IS was Starfire Pearl and I took it to Richmond Auto Body in North Vancouver. First job, pearl didn't match well at all.. boss lady (owner, manager or wife?) gave the guys shit, told them to re-do it and the second time around it was a pretty damn close match.. never going to be perfect though. |
Any painter that can perfectly match pearl white would be a god. Get it as close as you can to the adjacent panels, and time will do the rest. I know never to get pearl white again. Keep in mind that the paint adheres to the material differently, be it metal or plastic. But aging paint will slowly blend. In some cases, ICBC doesn't allow for blending with adjacent panels based on some measurement, but if youre paying for this, they really ought to blend it, or else there will always be a clear difference between the new and old paint. I'd love to find a painter that can match it well, as I'm having to constantly deal with mismatched paint too :( Posted via RS Mobile |
to get a decent color matching, request the shop to use the color matching camera provided by their paint supplier. as this will generate the closest color match without actual blending. |
