New brake pads feel kind of soft/squishy

Got all 4 of my brakes replaced on my EP3 Civic: new pads, machined rotors and flushed today. TOok the car out of the shop and noticed the new brakes felt a bit "squishy" and not as responsive as I had hoped. It felt as if there were almost no improvements over my old worn pads. Is this to be expected of - like a break in period, or is there still air in the lines and they need to be rebleed? thnx

two things come to mind. Either got air in the lines while flushing or using a lower quality pad

take the car up to 80kph and hit the anchors, repeat 3 times. they just need to be bed in :)

'Bedding' the brakes improves performance. Will not get rid of squishy feeling.
Brake Tech - Brake Pad and Rotor Bed-In Procedures
'Squishy' is a symptom of air in the lines. With a bad master cylinder, holding your
foot on the pedal, you will feel it slowly lose pressure.

Time to bleed the brake lines. It's easy to do. Just time consuming if you don't have a speed bleeder.

Your pads may also be of a lower quality but it shouldn't contribute to a "squishy" feeling.
