Robert Ebert, renowned film critic, dies at age 70

Roger Ebert, renowned film critic, dies at age 70 - CNN.com

Quote:
Legendary film critic Roger Ebert, who this week said he was facing a recurrence of cancer, has died at 70, according to the Chicago Sun-Times, which syndicated his column.
In an essay on his blog Tuesday, Ebert explained he was planning to slow down and reduce the number of movie reviews he wrote. Ebert had already lost his voice and much of his jaw after battling thyroid and salivary gland cancer.
"My intent is to continue to write selected reviews but to leave the rest to a talented team of writers handpicked and greatly admired by me," Ebert wrote. "What's more, I'll be able at last to do what I've always fantasized about doing: reviewing only the movies I want to review."
RIP, always loved your movie critique when i was 10 years old, always on @ late night TV , who was the sidekick tool beside him with glasses in the show?

Gene Siskel, and he wasn't a tool. He also died of cancer (brain tumor). He was very well respected in Chicago, especially in sports. He interviewed Jordan after they won the 1996 championship and was well respected by the players since he had a deep understanding of the game.

Siskel and Ebert together basically transformed movie reviews.

Maybe Verdasco was talking about Richard Roeper? Siskel never wore glasses.

He is one of the few people who defended Better Luck Tomorrow for having an asian cast that didnt play any stereotype.. which many critics said it should have been played a big role in the movie, otherwise they could have casted all white actors for the part

he wasnt a fan of racist jokes or segments in movies, i remember watching his review for Rush Hour 2 and oceans 11, both came out in in 2001... he didnt like the scene with chris tucker and bernie mac playing off as black guys being accused of something

I forgot about Roeper. That's how memorable he was. I stopped watching after Siskel died and just read Eberts reviews at his site.
