What is the parking regulation for the Taxi Zone (No time-limit) signage for the City of Vancouver?
I tried looking for it on the City of Vancouver website, but there is no information pertaining to that. https://vancouver.ca/streets-transpo...is-a-sign.aspx |

| AFAIK, taxi zones are no stopping zones. Remember that taxi drivers have radios and talk to dispatch--cab driver sees you, he's likely to call and ask for a tow.

Well it shouldn't be anyone's guess. It should be clearly indicated somewhere on the internet about its clear definition. I intend to use that point to dispute my ticket. Wish me luck.

"Was it a taxi zone that you stopped in?"
"yes"
"Are you a taxi driver?"
"No"
"pay the fine. Next case!"
...just call it a hunch.

Why would it need to be indicated on the internet? It's indicated on the sign...

If there is no time in effect on the sign, then one would assume that the zone in question is in effect 24/7

In the Vancouver City bylaw Quote:
17.2 An owner, registered owner, lessee or operator of a vehicle must not cause, allow or permit that vehicle to stop:
(a) within 6 metres of the approach side of a stop sign;
(b) within 6 metres of a firehall on that side of the street on which the firehall is located, or within 25 metres of a firehall on the opposite side of the street on which the firehall is located, unless otherwise restricted by a traffic sign;
(c) within 5 metres of a fire hydrant, measured either side from the point at the curb or edge of the roadway which is closest to the hydrant;
(d) in front of or within 1.5 metres of the nearest side of a private road, boulevard crossing or sidewalk crossing;
(e) in front of or within 1.5 metres of a garbage container;
(f) alongside or opposite a street excavation or obstruction where to do so would obstruct the movement of traffic;
(g) on any bridge, viaduct or elevated structure forming part of a street except:
(i) for the Hastings Viaduct;
(ii) where traffic signs indicate that parking or stopping is permitted; or
(iii) where parking meters indicate that parking is permitted;
(h) alongside a median, traffic island or traffic circle;
(i) on any roadway bounded by curbs where the roadway is 5 metres or less in width; (j) on any portion of a street indicated by a sign as reserved for one or more particular class of vehicle, except for vehicles of that class and readily recognizable as such | I guess your car doesn't look like a taxi to the bylaw officer...
and yes it's clearly indicated on the internet about it's clear definition https://vancouver.ca/your-government...fic-bylaw.aspx
