| Same components sound different in a different car?
My old car used to be a Nissan Versa hatchback. I'm now driving a Lexus GS sedan. I'm using the same 12" Type R in the same ported box, powered by the same Kenwood amp (300 RMS)
In the Versa, since it was a hatch, it basically had an open trunk into the cabin and the sub used to pound hard as hell on some songs. In the Lexus, I removed the stock sub in the rear deck, which exposes a 10" diameter hole. Same sub, same amp and same settings, why does the same song not hit as hard?

you kinda answered your own question, hatch vs sedan... hatch always wins, lexus will also have alot more sound deadening, thicker carpet, thicker/heavier seats, and the bass will be secluded to the trunk, a hatch area just has a thin cover stopping the bass from being in the cabin, and being a little nissan everything in it will be a little cheaper/lighter/thinner so bass can travel alot easier

lots of reasons interior volume is the greatest reason.

Even the length of vehicle and placement of subwoofer are significant factors in the differences in both cars. Lexus is one of the more difficult cars to get great bass with minimal work and product involved.

Time for more power and more subs
Yeah like everyone said you kind of answered your own question. Hatchback trunk shares the same cabin area, Sedan trunk all the bass is basically inside the trunk. So you need 2-3x more bass to be as loud as your Versa.
I'll assume you have a sealed enclosure, so most cost effective thing to do is to try a ported enclosure. If you're in Richmond, I have a GS also running a ported enclosure you can see the diff.

Its actually a ported box. I live in Richmond, I'd like to check out how yours sound if you're around after 6. fyi, here is my box. At 300w rms, I think I could do with an amp upgrade. |

You can get loud off of 300watts its all in the box, 3.25 cubes net single 4" aeroport tuned to 35hz should get you lots of output.

I would have to suggest coming in for a free consultation to see what we can do with your existing system.
